Davina stopped outside her house and breathed out a sigh out of tiredness. Glancing down at her hand, she flipped the pages of the file she had grabbed from the office.
After hours of searching and seeing nothing tangible, she tossed it to the passenger seat beside her. She got out of her car and walked towards the locked gate. Inserting a key into the keyhole, she turned it and heard a ding.
Sure that it had opened, she pulled the key out and pushed open the gate. Soon, the wide, short gate opened from both sides.
She stopped and walked back to her car. Slowly, she ignited the car and drove in. Ensuring she had parked well, she killed her car engine, grabbed the file and stepped out of the car.
She returned back to close the gate. She got into her house and after making dinner, slept off on the couch. She woke up an hour later to the sound of her car's alarm being set up.
She sat up and slid her foot into her flip-flops before hurrying over to the door. However, before she pulled the door, a thought suddenly occurred to her.
She had locked the door earlier and had forgotten where she kept her keys. With a sigh, she walked into the kitchen and tried to recall where she had gone and what she had touched.
Minutes later, she found it beside the dishwasher and grabbed it. She walked to the door again but this time, her ears moved as she caught sight of a running footstep.
Her lights were still on so the room was brightly lit. She looked at the door again and found something strange. The familiar smell of a cat!
Just as the thought settled in, the werecat who guessed his presence had been exposed, hit hard on the door.
Seeing the mark of his leg print, the lady narrowed her eyes coldly. She had thought the creature would respect itself but never had she thought it'd want to exterminate her.
His boldness was really commendable!
The hit didn't stop and soon, her door gave way. The werecat extended his hand and yanked the door knob out from inside before kicking the door open.
Seeing his prey, the Caucasian man's lips curled up. "I told you our conversation was yet to be finished."
Davina sized him up calmly before asking with a frown. "Were you the one triggering my car's alarm?"
The man smiled broadly and Davina guessed she was right. "Did you follow me all the way here just to prove a point?"
The man tilted his head. "What do you think?"
"Seems like something a stupid person would do. I'm not surprised though." Davina chuckled and pretended not to see the man's smile get replaced by a furious face.
Davina lowered her eyes slightly with a smug look.
Werecats are known to be prideful, so she needed no one to tell her the man would pounce on her any second from then.
Sure enough, a figure jumped towards her in an extremely fast motion. Davina glanced up at the man and took a step back instantly.
The man jumped directly on the spot she moved from and stared at her with a cold smile. "I wasn't expecting you to be quite skilled."
Davina said nothing in reply as she thought on how to deal with him. He didn't give her time to think, as he lunged towards her.
Punch, kick, blow, back and front flips were exchanged between the two.
Unlike the werecat who was an experienced assassin and had a good stamina, Davina found herself getting tired half an hour into their fight.
Seeing she had become weak, the man sneered. "You seemed impressive just now. I wasn't expecting you to have such low stamina."
Davina stared at him with a watery, clear eye. Quickly, she reached into her pocket and fetched out the gold from her pocket.
The man narrowed his eyes at her and huffed. "I wasn't expecting you to be so weak you'd resort quickly to a dubious means to win. If you're so cool, why don't you bring out mercury?!"
The man gnashed his teeth. Davina smiled weakly. Mercury? Her hand would peel if she even held it!
"I'm not a fan of mercury, I prefer gold instead and because of my love for it, I'm giving it to you." As she said so, she walked closer to him and pushed the gold towards him.
The man stared at her disdainfully and couldn't believe he was losing to her twice in a day.
"Believe me when I say you won't get away! I will hunt you and I'll kill you!" He yelled.
Davina put on an apologetic face and mimicked his actions. Then she laughed. "Leave already."
The man's glare intensified before he turned around. Davina's eyes caught sight of the broken door and frowned. "Hold on, what now happens to my door that you broke?"
The man glanced back at him, with the corners of his mouth raised. He replied. "You'd fix it yourself."
After saying that, he dashed out of the house and easily scaled the wall, before he did that, he turned around and smiled coldly at her.
Davina felt something was off about the smile and immediately fell to the floor clutching her stomach.
She coughed out slightly, covering her mouth with her other hand. She stared at the blood on her palm expressionlessly before she got up and made her way to her room.
She pushed her room's door open and walked straight to the drawer beside her bed. She pulled it open and took out a small bottle.
Squinting her eyes, she measured the right dosage and poured it into her mouth. Seconds later, the rate of her heartbeat slowed down and gradually returned to normal.
She collapsed onto the bed breathing heavily. An hour later, she got up and sauntered towards her closet, where she pulled out a big coat.
Without another though, she asked out of the room and straight to her car.
Recalling she was yet to open the gate, she knocked her head against the steering wheel for some seconds in anguish before getting down to open the gate.
She closed it back after driving out and hit the road immediately. She soon stopped in front of a bungalow. Stopping her car, she got down from it and tugged crazily at her hair recalling she forgot her phone.
It was almost midnight, so the sound of her knocking will surely disturb the neighbors and draw attention to herself.
Her eyes caught sight of the fence which wasn't high but neither was it low. Thinking about it once, she glanced around and walked towards it.
She glanced around the place again and instantly took a long leap.
The security man who was outside thought he saw something moving but when he looked behind him, he saw nothing. So he concluded he might've been imagining things.
Davina on the other end, made her way to the master bedroom through the window.
The figure on the bed who was fast asleep, stirred at the presence of someone else in the room.
She sat up immediately and her eyes darted around the room only to meet with a familiar silhouette standing beside her dressing table. "Davina? Is that you?"
Davina said nothing as she turned and walked towards the light switch. When she switched it on, the room was instantly filled with light.
The lady on the bed paled seeing Davina's ghost appearance. She sprang out of her bed the moment the latter's eyes went closed.
