Davina woke up an hour later snuggled in someone's arms.
Her eyes flew open at the realization of that but returned to normal seeing who it was. The lady looked at her with a frown. "What's up with you?"
Davina leaned away from her and sighed. "I think it's coming back."
"It's been gone for almost five years. Why would it suddenly return it?" The other woman asked.
Davina lowered her eyes and bit her lower lips. "There's a case in the station which was given to my partner and I. We happen to come across a werecat."
"What the...!" The other lady trailed off in shock. "A werecat? I thought they had gone extinct!"
Davina chuckled and punched her arm lightly. "Extinct? Come one, you should know them better than I do. Those creatures are so damn cunning. Besides, they also know most people despise them."
"That's not the matter on ground. You should be worried about how to get rid of the one you have on you." The other lady sighed, leaning back on her head post.
"I've been so weak lately and the appearance of this werecat just puts me in a tight spot!" Davina groaned.
The other lady was about to say something when she suddenly thought of something. Quickly, she stared towards her and asked. "You're in the station now, right?"
"Yes?"
"Haven't you seen him?" The latter's looks were expecting but seeing the dull look in Davina's eyes, she sighed.
"He's still a human. Haven't gotten close to him yet to discuss some certain things with him yet." Davina replied, hugging her knee.
There was silence afterward as neither of them said anything.
The other lady, whose name was Tabitha, got up and walked to her bathroom.
Davina now had more room and time to think. Regardless, her brain was empty. Hearing her phone chime, indicating a new notification, she fetched it out and read the message sent by a number.
Her expression remained stoic as she exited the message app without replying and tucked the phone back into her pocket.
Minutes later, Tabitha walked out of the bathroom and straight to her drawer.
Davina raised her brow seeing her searching for a cloth. She glanced at the wall clock on the wall and asked. "Where are you going?"
"Nowhere."
"But you're standing before your wardrobe, rummaging through your clothes. What else can you be searching for if not for a cloth?"
No sooner had the words left Davina's mouth did Tabitha whip out a card from one of her suit jackets and walked back to her.
She threw it at Davina who was still in a daze. "See? Told you I wasn't going out!"
"I'm sorry." Davina muttered and took up the card to have a peek at it. Seeing it was an unlimited black card, she glanced up at Tabitha weirdly. "Why are you giving me this?"
"To buy gold. Lots of them." Tabitha replied, climbing onto her bed.
Davina was even more confused. "Gold? What do I use them for?"
Tabitha glanced at her for a few seconds before muttering. "Can you deal with the werecat on your own?"
"Oh, yeah." Davina replied with a sigh before dipping the card into her pocket. "Thanks anyway."
Tabitha Maguire. Just like Davina, she had been disowned by her parents after leaving the coven. And yes, she was a Vampire and Davina's best friend.
"Why does my life have to be so hard?" Davina complained bitterly and Tabitha couldn't help shooting a mocking look at her.
"Seriously? You wanted to pursue your passion and mate. I guess while I was busy making money, you were busy training your butts off." She mocked.
The two.had coincidentally met under a bridge and after finding out their origin, had stuck together like sisters. While Tabitha liked to mess around, Davina liked to stay alone.
The two had stayed in the streets for two years, familiarizing themselves with it while building an empire for themselves. But then suddenly, Davina recalled she hadn't found her mate and set out for him.
"Well, it's not my fault. What's money without my life?" She snorted.
Tabitha chuckled, then reached out her hand and drew the latter down to the bed. "You should get some sleep. Even after many years your brain still hasn't developed fully."
Davina felt insulted and tried to raise her head and glare at her but was pressed down by Tabitha. "This is why you didn't grow your brain and height, you never listened to me."
At this point, Davina wanted to reach out so badly and s***k the latter on her face but couldn't as Tabitha's grip on her tightened.
"Even after so many years you still love to bully me!" Davina said with gritted teeths.
Tabitha breathed out calmly. "Ah, the feeling!"
Forget it!
Davina groaned and stopped struggling with her. After a few minutes, Tabitha could hear soft snores coming from the girl beneath her.
Slowly, she released her grip on Davina and stealthily got up. Then she covered her with a duvet and walked towards the balcony.
Her eyes landed on the top of a building meters away and they clashed right into a pair of bright, cat-like eyes.
With a last glance at the girl, she held the railing and swung herself out. And like a wisp of hair, made her way to where the cat-like eyes came from.
"Don't you have other jobs besides following people around?" She asked coldly.
The werecat stared at her for a few seconds before chuckling. "Unfortunately, I don't."
"She's mine. Take your damn eyes off her!" Tabitha stated matter-of-fact. Her doting expression had changed to that of viciousness.
"Whoever I've got my eyes on, don't leave that easily. By the way, who the hell are you?" The man sneered.
Tabitha stared at him and suddenly smiled. Her fangs elongated along with her fingernails, she snarled. "I'm someone you shouldn't mess with."
"I'm scared of no one." The man replied and took on a fighting stance.
