Morning had come and just as like every other day, Davina woke up to prepare to work.
Totally forgetting what happened the day before, she turned towards the vanity table to talk with Tabitha, but sighed seeing she wasn't there.
After she had gotten back last night, Tabitha was already in bed. Davina knew she wasn't asleep, but chose not to disturb her.
They hadn't said a single word to each other and thus morning, Tabitha left for work earlier.
After getting ready for work, she left in the same car as yesterday. As usual, Dave was waiting for her right outside the station.
When the car dropped beside him, he heaved out a sigh of relief. "Phew! You almost gave me a heart attack!"
Without waiting for an invitation, he opened the front door and got in. "I tried your line a number of times, but got no reply. I even sent you series of text messages!"
He looked and sounded aggrieved. Davina slipped her hand into her left pocket and took out her phone. She turned it on to see the countless calls and messages from Tabitha, her mother and Dave.
"I didn't use my phone after I dropped you off. Had something to take care of."
The man no longer pursued the matter. He was satisfied that she was fine. He glanced up ahead and caught sight of an incoming trailer. The scene of the day before flashed past his eyes.
Nervously, he turned to look at Davina. Davina chuckled. "How about we make a trip to the hospital to get you checked?"
Hearing her, the man realized he had overreacted and huffed. "I'm fine. I received the same training as you. So I'm no worse!"
Davina nodded stiffly. The man's eyes caught sight of the water near the gear. He suddenly remembered something and dipped his hand into his pocket.
Under Davina's watchful gaze, he unwrapped something and grabbed the cup of water. "Are you still drinking this?"
"Not really. What's that? A sort of medicine or what?" Davina asked, sniffing the air lightly.
Her expression changed as she sniffed the pungent smell. She didn't want to look harsh so she waited for the man to dissolve it into water.
Shaking the water a little, Dave replied. "My dad said it's good for the mind. Rejuvenates and helps in brain development. I've been drinking it for as long as I can remember."
After saying that, the man took the cup to his lips, but before he could take a sip from it, Davina yanked it from his hand and threw it outside the car's window.
Without waiting for him to ask, she explained. "Your dad possibly didn't notice this one's expired. It's not really safe to take it."
The man nodded, but had a worried expression. "I always take it daily to reduce my frequent hallucinations. If I don't, I'd be disoriented."
Davina narrowed her eyes hearing him. She started the car and drove out. "Hallucinations? Can you describe what you see and hear?"
"Just someone eager to be friends with me." The man sighed. "It's draining whenever I try to talk to him."
Davina's eyes flashed as she thought of something. Clearing her throat, she said. "I also take. Been taking it since I was a child too. Let's stop at my place for me to get it for you?"
"Yeah, sure." The man nodded. Her kindness saved him the stress of returning back to ask for another one. "By the way, where are we headed?"
"I thought of us going to a priest. This case is quite spiritual, we'd need to get some fortifications you know." She smiled.
The man nodded, and said in relief. "I won't have to be too scared whenever we come out."
Soon, she packed in front of her house. The car she was driving was really eye-catching, so much that it caught the attention of an idle Caucasian man.
Dave stared at the fancy lights on Davina's fence. "Are those necessary?"
Davina followed his train of sight and chuckled. The light was the cover-up Tabitha said she did.
Pressing her forehead lightly, she felt the lady had no idea what 'not an attractive sight' meant.
"I love to beautify my surroundings." She smiled stiffly whilst glancing around.
Without much ado, the duo walked into the house ignoring the gossipy look coming from her neighbors.
He took a seat in her sitting room as she made her way upstairs. The tea leaves were on her vanity table.
Unlike the other one which weakened him, the one she had helped to boost one's immunity and power.
She grabbed it and ran downstairs. "If you don't mind, should I make it for you?"
Dave, who was enjoying the comfort of the soft sofa, nodded absentmindedly. With a shrug, she walked into the kitchen and made it. Seconds later, she walked out with a mug and handed it over to him.
"It's quite early for you to be tired." She joked after he gulped down the medicine when pokerface.
The man's distorted expression, which was as a result of the bitter taste, made her laugh. "Stop making it look like it's bitter."
The man handed the cup back to her replying. "I'm not making it look like it's bitter, it's bitter."
"I thought only kids are scared of bitter drinks? Tsk tsk!" She mocked walking into the kitchen.
"Fine! I'm a kid!" The man snorted.
Davina, who was moving, suddenly stopped and flew back. Without warning, she grabbed the man and fled to another side of the room.
Almost immediately, the door shattered and fragments whizzed through the air. Thankfully, they were out of the way, otherwise, they'd have been hurt.
She raised her head and glanced at the Intruder. Seeing it was the werecat again, she huffed angrily. "Don't you have other works to do other than stalking me?!"
The man smiled. "Actually, I do. My work is to hunt and kill you!"
