More Trouble Brewing!

Calister went to work the next day determined to do what she had in mind. As for Enoch, she didn't want to take him to mind. However, before she could go into the office, she saw Jonas under a tree smoking. She changed direction and walked towards him. "I didn't expect to see you at work today." The man said after a moment of silence. Calister smiled. "I was transferred to carry out investigations regarding the lives of your people. If I return back without doing anything my superiors will not be happy." "What's the need?" The man scoffed. "The same superiors sent someone else to oversee the case. More like take over." "Actually, just like people at the station aren't at peace with each other, it's the same with them. And each all have people they dote on. It's just something that happens all the time." Jonas glanced at her swiftly before taking his eyes away. He felt something hot on his fingers and looked down at it only to see his cigarette had burnt out. With a sigh, he tossed it aside and left the shade. Calister stared at the man's back and the mysterious feeling that he knew something engulfed her. The man looked simple, but after she saw him blend in as one of Jackson's men, she had a hunch he was after something. She stayed there for a while and when she was getting ready to leave, someone called her. She didn't want to answer at first, but when she realized she could cause a scene due to how dramatic the man was, she stopped. "What do you want?" Enoch stood beside her and answered gingerly. "A word with you." "Ok." "It's been long, you know. You're still the feisty type. But I must assure you, if you think you'd get your hands on him first, you're joking!" She was first surprised, but before she gave herself out, she asked. "You've found him? When?" Enoch was a little embarrassed when posed with the question. They had only noticed that the survival of the Golden Fur was in the police academy. Thinking of that, he turned to look at Calister and teased. "How I'm I sure you're not the one I'm after? Who knows, that's why you're so confident." "Think whatever you want. You're also free to take me with you to confirm your claim." She hissed and walked out under the shade. Enoch stared at her until she walked into the office then a cold smile surfaced on his face. ...... In the woods "Are you two so incompetent! This isn't the fed time you've been to town but you ended up alerting someone!" The two men in front of him lowered their heads in guilt. They had returned from the respective agenda to see their colleague who had been hale and hearty that morning, mangled beyond recognition in their room. His tongue was chopped off and so were all his fingers and some of his toes. The sight was so gory and frightening that they had to leave the hotel immediately. After his body was taken away and dropped somewhere they would remember, they returned to the hotel and requested for the security footage of that day. Just like they thought, a cleaner or rather someone who was claiming to be a cleaner walked into their room dragging something behind him. It was a waste bin long enough to hide a full grown man in. Cleaners rarely used it when packing dirt, but whenever they did, it was because the dirt was either big or he or she was just too lazy to take the smaller one. The bigger one was more easy to push as it had tires on its foot. When the two men saw it, they knew the cleaner was the one who dumped the body in their room. Their blood had boiled so badly, but because they didn't want to blow their cover and set the hotel on fire, they chose to retreat quietly to the woods. Who knew that the moment they did, they'd be attacked on the way! Whoever it was just wasn't planning to give up! "I thought so highly of you two that I was willing to let you go to town! Turns out you are just a bunch of nitwits!" Before the man could continue scolding them, someone close to him stepped forward. "I think instead of scolding them, we should focus on finding who it was that killed one of us! One of your men and threw his body arrogantly to your face!" Gregor's fury ignited even more hearing his words. "Abandon the search for Davina and Dave for now. Launch an attack on who must have killed him!" The man nodded and walked away. He had no idea Tabitha had predicted his words and guessed he'd say a thing like that. When the news got delivered to her, she smiled mockingly and walked towards Davina. When she met the latter, her face had gone grim. "I'm guessing that you've been informed as well." She smiled. "I thought Gregor was quite intelligent. I never expected him to fall for our scheme. Much less react to it." "I told you we needed to kill the man to give him a reason to act. People like him value's reputation more. So when other packs hear one of his men has been killed by someone else, they'd scorn him." Tabitha explained, a streak of amusement passing through her eyes. Truth be told, she was quite excited. Ever since Davina went to the police academy and returned, they no longer committed some little crimes without the latter feeling guilty. Sometimes the guilt could lead to nightmares and the rest of them. She had became sick of it and decided to help Davina help the country she so wanted to serve and wear the uniform also. "It's so good being back in the game." Hearing her, Davina cast a glance at her. "We still need to obey the law, okay?" Tabitha propped up her head with both hands and peered into Davina's face. "Seems you've forgotten something so quickly." "I did? What's that?" "Currently, you're on the run and should be shot on sight once sighted. Is that a country you're willing to protect?" "But they only said that in order to calm the citizens." Davina argued. "Oh, that's what you think." Tabitha said slowly and poured tea for herself. "Have you gone on the net these past few days?" "I haven't. What can possibly be going on there?" Davina asked in confusion, then reached into her pocket to draw out her phone. She clicked on f*******:, but before it loaded, someone ran into the courtyard. "Have you guys seen the news?" The two exchanged a look before scurrying over to him. It was a news article about Dave and Davina. It seemed to have been updated. The news had carried Davina being causing the death of her neighbors, but this time, it clearly said, Dave was with her. With evidence! Having a simple mind, the man was white nervous. "What do we do? Should I log into my official account to clarify this?" "No!" The two women shouted at the same time. The man was so frightened that he let go of the tablet in his hands. Tabitha saw it on time and caught it with her foot. Then she glanced at him with mockery before she walked away. Her expression didn't sit well with Dave who now realized he was now alone with Davina. "I just remembered, I felt so sleepy a while ago! I should probably go to sleep!" He panicked. In fact, he had been making up excuses after he and Davina made out. Davina on the other hand only felt amused. The fact she had slept with a virgin surprised her. The man was a handsome lad and even if he had told her it was his first she'd have doubted. Probably driven by hormones, the man had made her feel like a woman again. He knew just what to do and when to do it. The man on the other hand felt guilty feeling he could've controlled himself more. He had no idea it was the mate's bond and it was likened to the second most powerful thing in the world. Before he could take off this time, she grabbed his hands and turned him to look at her face. "You don't have to keep running whenever you see me." The man stood, refusing to meet eyes with her. She let go of his hands and returned back to her seat. She poured the remaining tea on her cup and on the one Tabitha had used earlier. "You've always wanted to know what you are. Come, I'm willing to tell you now." She smiled. The man's interest became piqued and ignoring his guilt, walked towards the table and sat opposite her. "You are from a specie which was wiped out a while ago. They were known as the Golden Furs..."
