"What happened?" Tabitha asked, directly ignoring his jittery attitude.
The man stayed closer to Davina as he narrated what happened.
"I ran out of the courtyard and headed towards the entrance but one of your workers called to my attention Davina was in search of me. So I followed her. What happened next was me being thrown in there and my hands and feet being taped then..."
Seeing him stop, his brows furrowing together, they knew something was wrong.
"Go on! What happened!?" Davina probed anxiously, her instinct telling her something was wrong.
"I heard her conversing with another man. She said she'd inform you of me leaving the house and you'd likely chase after me with Davina."
Almost immediately, the ground shook and to their utmost disappointment, Davina and Tabitha realized they had been betrayed!
"I have an exit at the back of the house! You two head over there!" Tabitha screamed as the noise got louder.
This time, it seemed as though something big was hitting hard on the front side of the house.
"What about you? They already know you're with us!" Davina said, refusing to budge.
"Silly girl, they can only pin it on me if they have any evidence." Tabitha smiled.
"But but they do?"
"Do they?" Tabitha smirked and zoomed towards a corner of the room.
She came out holding a man in mofty but no doubt, he was one of the cops. With one hand, she looked him over, enjoying the fear on his face.
"Say, what do you think I should do to you?" She teased, exposing her canines.
The man who had been a little bold earlier and wanted to threaten her with the cops being around, felt his knees go weak as he realized she was a vampire.
"What? You're no longer bold?" Tabitha hissed, exerting more pressure on the hand holding him.
The man struggled to breathe as his hands flew to his neck, trying to loosen her hands.
"Y-you th-ink they won't f-ind you, but they will. You're no match for them even as a Vampire!" He spat.
When he sneaked into the house as a security man, he had figured out the devices he took in couldn't work as she had deactivated all internet access.
So he informed his people that a signal would go off and then they'd be free to enter. After giving the signal, he had been hiding in a corner eating patiently for them.
"You sound like a good officer. Too bad you're going to die like a chicken. A miserable death." Tabitha nodded.
She soon stopped and tilted her head backward. When she found out Dave and Davina still stood there, she hollered angrily.
"Do you have any idea you'd put me in trouble if you don't do as I say?!"
Sure enough, it jolted Davina's brains and she ran off. It wasn't because she was scared of them or weaker than Tabitha, but because Dave would be exposed!
Who knows what would happen when the people after him finds him. They followed the instructions Tabitha had given them.
Just before she walked into the elevator, she noticed Dave had stopped and was looking back.
"What is it?"
"I can hear hundreds of people talking outside along with tons of cars which I presume to belong to the cops stopping outside. Do you think she will be able to handle them?" He asked quietly.
"She'll be fine."
Dave did not turn around almost immediately after hearing her. But when he did, he asked. "Who is stronger between you two?"
Davina walked to him and pulled him into the elevator.
"Actually, she was no match for me. I used to be extremely strong." She replied with a smile.
"Used to? You're weak now?"
"Yeah."
"What happened?"
"That's a story for another day." Davina replied and the elevator came to a stop.
It was Tabitha's underground garage. The cars weren't as sophisticated as the ones in her main apartment, but they could pass off as luxury cars.
"Where do we go now?" Dave asked nervously as he got into one of the cars with Davina.
The lady pushed the start button and replied with a sigh. "I don't know."
"How about my dad's place?" The man suggested fastening his seatbelt.
Davina frowned and shook her head. She soon thought of a place and drove out.
The drive was silent and soon she pulled over outside the said haunted house.
The place was rowdy this time around and she didn't need to worry about being spotted. But to be on the safer side, she had her head lowered as she walked towards the compound.
"Are you sure we're in the right place?" Dave asked, as they walked into the creepy compound.
"I am." She replied and pushed the door open.
Unlike before, the familiar silhouette of Harriet meditating wasn't there.
Dave on the other hand was astounded by the clean insides of the house. It looked entirely different from the outside.
Just as he was looking around, his eyes rested on the cushion where there was a lady staring at him stoically.
As quickly as he could, he retreated to Davina's back, but later found it weird. He walked to her front and shielded her from Harriet.
A smile made its way to Harriet's face as she calmly sipped the coffee in her hand. "I wasn't expecting you, Davina."
Dave furrowed his brows as the person he was shielding pushed him aside and walked towards Harriet. "I have no other place to go to. So I'm here."
"It's not right that I feel like a second choice." Harriet mumbled but her words were audible to Davina.
"It's not like that, Tabitha found us first."
"I'm not complaining though." Harriet chuckled and looked towards Dave. "Who's the cutie?"
"My mate."
"Your mate! He's so damn cute! Wait, does that mean.." Harriet who was blabbing suddenly stopped and gasped.
This meant every piece was slowly coming together!
