Someone At It Again!

1083 Words
The door got pushed open at that moment preventing Davina from replying. It was the maid who almost fell prey to Tabitha, but she looked flustered. Davina had the urge to ask her how she knew they were in but decided against it. "The man is gone!" The maid reported. Tabitha and Davina glanced at each other. They didn't need an elaborate explanation to know what was going on. Obviously, Dave had been scared stiff that he couldn't wait to leave the place, then he broke out on his own. Tabitha held her forehead in dismay. Because she never expected the man to leave one day without permission, she didn't term it fit to tell him about the cops lurking around the place. She had gotten rid of the ones she could inconspicuously, but had refrained from killing without restraint as that might agitate the others. Because some of their comrades in arms had died, those outside were even more determined to get their hands on Dave and Davison. If they caught Dave, it'd only hint to them Davina had been in the house all along. Even Tabitha might be exposed as well. "What happened? Tell me exactly what happened." "According to the security, he had suddenly shown up at the gate requesting to exit the place. They had informed him of your order. No one is allowed to leave or enter without your permission. He paid no attention to it and tried to force his way out. When the security intervened, he beat them senseless." When the maid was narrating the whole story, she had her face scrunch up in surprise. Dave was a lanky man by nature and he looked extremely weak. The first time he joined the security at the gate, they had argued a lot about his strength and one had boasted Dave was no match for him. She thought of the look on their faces when they opened their eyes to see they had been rendered to that position by Dave. "Where are the security men now?" Tabitha said, walking faster to meet Davina's pace. "They've been taken to the infirmary. I've phoned the doctor already, he should be here in a few minutes." "Good." Tabitha nodded. "Now, go back, inform every staff member to return to their quarters. I'd request for you to rerun." She didn't go much into details and the maid was scared to ask so she could only nod her head and walk away. "That man is such a handful!" Davina finally complained. She had been calling him a lot of disdainful names in her heart and just needed somewhere to vent her anger on. "I think we should be thinking of what to do, Davina." Tabitha said, putting them to a halt. The whole house was now empty as all the staff returned to their quarters after they heard the maid's words. Davis touched her forehead with a sigh. "Sincerely, I don't know. I'm at a loss of what to say." Tabitha wasn't surprised. Right from time, Davina had been the one to be less productive when under pressure. "Let's hope they haven't seen him, but even if they do, they haven't gotten their hands on him." Tabitha started, maintaining eye contact with Davina. "So this is how we're going to do it.." Hearing her plan, Davina nodded and walked away, but not without glancing at part of the house. Tabitha got the glue as she nodded and walked towards that way. Not only had the enemy sought for a way to track her, they also planted someone in her own house! As a worker! Thinking of how strict she had been and the appearance of the mole, her anger fueled more. The lady who didn't think she had been caught, hid behind a wall and took out her phone. However, a hand shot out at that moment and grabbed the phone. It happened so quickly that the other one wasn't able to react. Tabitha grabbed her by the hair and hit her a couple of times on the wall. If only she had time, she would've loved to see the latter's brains on the floor. She looked down at the phone in her hand and after reading the chats, she raced towards the gate. She was right in time as Davina had moved to open the door. "Wait!" Davina stopped and looked back at her. Tabitha hurried over with the phone in her right hand. "Take a look at this." "All this is just a plot! Dave's in the basement!" She read and looked up at Tabitha. "Give me a chance. Just one chance to deal with the cops. I'm starting to find them so annoying!" Tabitha smiled mockingly. "You've always found them annoying. Your love for your mate didn't just let you." Davina blushed in embarrassment, but refused to comment. Instead, she pulled Tabitha's attention to something else. "Shouldn't we go check up on Dave?" "Yeah, Dave." The words came out unnatural and Davina knew she was only feeling guilty he almost pounced on him. The two stopped before the basement door and pulled it open. There was nothing in it and she could only turn to Tabitha helplessly. "This is not the basement he was kept. They played a clever trick. I would never have thought that basement is still in use." They soon stopped before a door made of steel and pulled it open. Standing upright with his hands, feets and mouth taped. Dave had wanted to ask for help, but seeing the face of Tabitha, he recoiled back in fear. Noticing the change in his countenance, Tabitha stepped aside and let Davina walk up to him. She first tore off the tape binding his mouth before the ones on his hands and foot. "What happened to you?" Davina questioned after he walked out. The man glanced at Tabitha then reached out to hold Davina's hand. Davina realizing why he was acting strange, facepalmed herself. "I forgot to tell you. Mom here is a Vampire and a very strong one at that." Dave's eyes widened both in surprise and horror. He stood a little farther from Tabitha and asked. "Did you try to kill me a while ago?" The latter replied grimly. "It wasn't intentional. It happens to me at times." His grip on Davina tightened and for that second, he had totally forgotten he had a fight with Tabitha and the words he had heard in the basement!
