Gregor's Men Are In Town!

1003 Words
Just like she expected, a van pulled over outside the gate and some clothed officers alighted from it. They knocked on the gate and it was opened to them. The security man let them walk in after seeing their badge. This Tabitha followed with her keen hearing. After stuffing the dried body of the maidservant somewhere, she returned back to the house and walked towards the entrance acting like she had no idea what was happening. Before she could say a word, Gerald pulled out a search warrant. "We have the approval to search your house. We hope you'll cooperate." Tabitha nodded with a small smile. "But may I know why?" Gerald glanced at her, but said nothing in reply. In his words, the woman was quite sly. Just a few days ago, she had intimidated even Jonas in the interrogation room. Now, she was acting like a good citizen. "We'd appreciate it if you let us do our job in peace." He slowly replied before dispatching people to other parts of the house. Tabitha chuckled, finding the man quite impressive. A new toy to play with wasn't bad. Although she found the man a little pleasant to the eyes, she couldn't help fantasizing on how to drain the life out of him. The officers returned sometime later shaking their heads. Gerald stared at Tabitha for some seconds before saying. "You know, if you come out clean and tell us where Davina and Dave are, I might help you get a clean record." The lady chuckled. "Help me get a clean record? Even you don't have a clean record." Her words made the man blush in embarrassment. He had committed some petty crimes before joining the police force. It was quite surprising the woman knew about it. "I underestimated you." He simply said and nodded at the door. Instantly, his men swarmed to it and walked out. A maidservant stood behind her with a bored expression. "I have a request to make ma'am." "What?" "My grandmother's funeral will be next weekend. This week and next week, her children and grandchildren are using them to make preparations for her funeral. I was hoping you'd let me off just for these few days." The maid requested. "You're free to go. However, I'd be expecting you to resume duty the day after the funeral or the temporary maid I'll be employing will take over your position if she so wishes." Tabitha replied. That same day, Davina and Dave resumed duty as part-time workers. Different faces and different identities. There was no news from the cops for a few days, but they didn't forget to continue tailing Tabitha. Meanwhile, while they were distracted, she had someone take out the corpse of the maidservants who she had killed and now looked like a fresh corpse, out. Other than that, she had begun a propaganda that something had happened to them. For.what happened to them, she let a fellow Vampire think of any human related sickness and pin it on it. Thankfully, everyone bought the lie. Like the other days when she'd head over to her penthouse instead of her villa, she met with a restless Davina. Recognizing that the cops were not to be underestimated and might've planted spies even in the penthouse, she ordered the latter to follow her upstairs. There, they communicated in Spanish. "I'm tired of living like this while the real culprit is out there enjoying his life!" "It's risky out there." Tabitha muttered, scratching the back of her head. "I also heard the station had someone take over your case, a certain Calister Mooney. Heard she's a brilliant one." "You mean they accepted another female? Yet they made life hard for me! Stupid station!" "I also heard the higher-ups are changing hands. They've sweeped out all the corrupted people. So they say, but for the meantime, all will be just." "I don't care about that. I need you to think of something that'd take us back to my home and get me out of here!" Davina yelled in frustration. The walls were soundproof so normal people couldn't hear, but abnormal people like Werewolves and Vampires within the building would probably hear of it. "Stop screaming, alright? I'm also racking her head here thinking of what to do!" Tabitha huffed. "Fine, I'm sorry but I can't take this anymore. I feel like I'm suffocating." "Got it!" Tabitha said in excitement. "I'd ask some people to set up a divination stand, lead people inside while I stay inside and question them a little." A little? Davina nodded at her with a smirk. "When are we going?" "In an hour. I need to have people set up the stall." Tabitha replied, taking out her phone. She phoned someone and after talking to him for some considerable amount of time, it ended. She threw the phone beside her and turned to Davina. "I did hear some Werewolves entered the city. Must be Gregor's men." She informed. Davina's heart skipped. "I'd deal with them one at a time." "Hey! Don't you think you should inform me of what happened?" Tabitha asked, aggrieved. "You're talking so leisurely while my life is in danger. Don't you think you're impressive!" Davina snorted. Tabitha was at a loss of what to say. She cared! She was just curious. She decided not to say anything and fell into thought. So did the lady beside her. "There's this girl, an officer too, Isabella White. She seems to bear a deep grudge against you." Tabitha suddenly said. Davina laughed. "Isabella is still alive? Here I was thinking she wouldn't be able to face the shame, so she'd commit suicide. What wishful thinking I had there!" "Why do you sound disappointed?" Tabitha asked curiously, drawing closer to her. "I am. That lady is so funny she tried to use dark magic on me. I can't wait to get back to the station and oppress her with my status!" Just then the phone on the bed rang.
