Jackson And Calister

1026 Words
Calister stood up from her desk and stretched. Unlike Davina who kept to herself, she was more easygoing. Hence, she had made friends among the officers. One man looked up and asked. "Going out?" "Yeah." She nodded. "I just received a call from the supervisor. He has something to discuss with me." The man nodded and focused back on his laptop. Before she darted towards the elevator, she saw a familiar figure walking inside the station. Narrowing her eyes slightly, she hid. Jackson was led straight to another elevator and she roughly guessed he had gone up to see the supervisor. She didn't need to follow them immediately. After the elevator moved up, she got into the empty one and moved up. She got out of the elevator and stood in the corridor. There, she was able to eavesdrop on the conversation with ease. "My partners suddenly gets entangled in a case they were working on. You chase after them and suspend the case for the time being, is this how jealous you are?!" Jackson thundered. An equally murderous voice spoke. "What do you mean, Jackson? Should I remind you that whoever entangles his or herself with you is bound to get into trouble!" "Bullshit!" Jackson yelled and the sound of something breaking was heard. Calister was able to distinguish it as a palm landing on a table. Prolly the supervisor's table. She was about to continue listening when the sound of footsteps resounded in her ears. She turned around to see Jason staring quietly. She looked down at herself to see she wasn't holding onto anything but stood alone with piqued interest. "Hi, Jason." Jason walked over to her and said blankly. "I have no idea who you are or what you're planning, but I do know you're not a human." His simple sentence froze her. She glanced up at him with a surprised look. "Your father seems human, but you're one of us. Isn't thY strange?" Jason cast a look at her before looking ahead. "I got bitten a few years ago by an Alpha." She nodded. "Oh, that explains it." Recalling the task given to her by her father, she sought for a way to slip away from him. "Stop stalking my father. Although he's human, he'd sense someone has been on his tail and believe me, it won't be funny." "I'm not stalking your father, the man in his office is my goal." Calister replied, feeling it was necessary to inform him. Jonas said nothing as he walked away. Before walking into the elevator, he elaborated. "Just be careful. He's keener than some of us." The moment the elevator closed the door to the supervisor's office got opened and Jackson and his men stormed out. Before he walked into the other vacant elevator, Jackson looked towards Calister and thought she looked familiar. He however had no time to deliberate on that as the elevator closed. He spoke to the man beside him. "The girl at the corridor, bring her to me, but if she insists not to and doesn't comply with the order, you're free to shoot her to death." The man nodded and walked out of the elevator. He followed Calister until she got to her destination. Or so he thought. He took out a bread knife and got ready to mess her up, but surprisingly, a figure flashed to his front and sent him flying to the ground with a kick. The man who had not expected such a move from her, stumbled back twice before his eyes became clear. "If I were you, I'd look for a place to hide!" The man said, gnashing his teeth in fury. The fact he was unable to get up from the ground puzzled him. She sneered. "Worry about yourself. Unfortunately, I know you won't be leaving here alive!" Then she moved quickly to his front, reached out her fingers and snapped the man's neck. His neck dropped. Obviously, he was dead. "What are you planning to do with the body?" The lady's cat sneered. "Stop talking to me and go back to sleep!" Calister snapped and its voice dispersed. She first looked the man over just to be sure she hadn't left any fingerprints. Satisfied, she got up and walked out of the place. Almost immediately, a figure showed up and stared at the pitiful sight of the man. He thought of something and dragged the man's body away. Jackson, who had been waiting outside, heaved a sigh of relief seeing him walk out. "What took you so long?" "She's a clever one. Unfortunately, she noticed me on time and took off." The man replied, his head bent a little. The man nodded and got into his car before driving out. Calister made her way back to the Supervisor's office. She knocked on it and waited for approval. "Come in!" She pushed the door open to see the sight of the desk, made from oaktree shattered. She raised a brow in apprehension, acting like she was surprised. "What happened here, sir?" The man waved his hands, refusing to relate it to her. "It's nothing you should be worried about. You said something about asking for a favor." "Yes, sir. The case senior Davina and senior Dave had in their grasp back then is now vacant. Although the citizens aren't paying much attention to it again, they'd always recall it if something happens like it happens again." The elderly man tilted his head to the side, vaguely guessing where she was headed. "So what are you trying to say now?" "Instead of keeping it vacant and focusing only on senior Dave and Davina, we should also focus on this other one. If we can find something feasible to pin the blame wholeheartedly on the duo, there's no telling how deep their trust will be if we succeed." She elaborated further. He was about to place his hand on the table when he recalled it was shattered. He retreated and rubbed the space between his eyebrows. "So what do you want?" "I'd like to embark on this investigation along with your son, senior Jason."
