Only Hope, A Dead End

The lady's expression stiffened. She cleared her throat a second later and asked carefully. "Are you sure of this person?" Davina whose eyes were darting around looked at her and nodded. "Yes." "Very well then..." The staff nodded and led them to a private room. The moment they walked in, the staff left. Davina, who already sensed a heartbeat in the room, stopped at a spot glancing around the place. "One more question." She stopped Davina who was about to walk forward. "Is this person wealthy?" Davina glanced around the place and shook her head. "I don't really know." "I can actually hear you two." A hoarse voice sounded from the corner of the room. The two ladies weren't surprised as they had pinpointed her location seconds after walking in. Davina walked up to the lady who had her head lowered onto a desk. She pushed the chair opposite her backward and sat on it. "Why are you in this state?" The latter didn't raise her head. Instead, she took her glass of wine under the table and took a swing from it. "I think the question should be, what are you doing here?" The lady asked again, this time, raising her bloodshot eyes to look at Davina. "You've gotten much cuter." Seeing she was about to touch her face, Davina pushed her hands away and got up. "I need your help." "Hmmm...you need my help? That's a first." The lady retorted, staring up at Davina. Her surprisingly neat afro perked up. "If I might ask, what is it that you took the risk to come see me here?" Davina was about to answer when she caught something in the sentence. "Took the risk? You know I'm on the run?" Francisca smiled displaying her white teeths and black gum. "The fact I stay on my own doesn't mean I don't know what's going on. Not only do the neighbors discuss it, people at the club also do." "Fine, I know you often video my everyday life using a cam in my living room. Do you mind lending me for a while?" Francisca frowned. "I haven't been home for a while and the last one I put, I took it away the day you left to God-knows-where." Davina knew she was referring to the time when she had gone to spend some days in Tabitha's house. But that didn't bother her. She was more worried about the words the lady had spouted. She had been gone for a while so a camera hadn't been fixed. Also, even if the camera had been fixed, she would've prolly taken if off days after Davina didn't return home. At this moment, Tabitha who had been sitting in a corner, patiently listening to them, got up and headed towards them. "So there's no footage?" She asked in disappointment and Davina nodded. However, Francisca's eyes gleamed as she recognized Tabitha. "Tabitha Stevens, it's such a pleasure to meet you!" After walking up to them, Tabitha had totally forgotten there was someone else in the room. She could only turn around awkwardly. "Hello, nice to meet you." "I'm Francisca Arnaldo." Francisca introduced herself. Tabitha nodded, not finding their discussion important. "I know." She stared at Davina who had a light smile tugging at the corner of her lips. On sighting it, she instantly had a bad feeling. "You're really pretty." Francisca suddenly commented. Tabitha refused to choke on her saliva as she glanced at the lady before saying. "I'm not into bisexuals." Then she turned to look at Davina. "She doesn't have what we want. I think we should leave before the cops starts suspecting a foul play." Davina stared at Francisca and nodded. The latter too also felt guilty. "I'm sorry I couldn't be of help." "It's alright. See you later." When the staff who had been waiting outside to raise an alarm if she didn't see them, she jumped up in fright before rushing towards them. "We are alright." Davina replied, moving away from her touch. The staff realized she had been a little entrained. "It's good you're alright." Davina flashed a smile at which the staff returned. Seeing the lady was now at ease, she asked. "Why is Francisca locked up in there? Does she owe the company or something of that sort?" The staff originally didn't want to talk about it but after recalling the duo had walked out of Francisca's room with ease, he said. "The Arnoldos are a major shareholder over here. Ms. Arnoldo also goes berserk sometimes and needs to be kept in." Tabitha yawned at that moment and asked. "Is that why she's in that room?" The staff nodded. Tabitha said nothing as she glanced back at the door feeling something wasn't right. ..... Walking into the ugly house, Isabella failed to hold her nose for fear that the woman would feel disrespectful. "You're back...so soon. I know my charm worked. It always does." A woman's voice came up. Narrowing her eyes, she noticed the small figure again and walked up to her. However, she stopped meters away from where the woman was. "I didn't get the opportunity to kill her the last time. However she got herself into trouble. This is a nice time for me to get back at her." Isabella summarized. The woman chuckled and asked. "So what should I do for you?" "Although she is said to be hiding, I have a feeling she's walking around with a disguise. A fake face!" Isabella raged. "So you need something to alert you if she happens to appear in front of you?" "Exactly!" The woman nodded and got to work. Two minutes later, she presented a crystal clear ring to Isabella. "Here is what you wished you for!" Isabella extended her hand and took it. She looked it over before asking. "How does it work?" "All you have to do is inform it of who you're in search of. The rest is just pure magic that you need to trust."
