Chapter 29: School Supplies

We just arrived here inside the mall to buy our supplies for school. Michael is so excited that he jumped out of the car. “Ouch!” Michael exclaimed loudly, enough for us to hear him. “See? You did that to yourself.” I said to Michael as I extended my hand to help him stand up. “I’m just excited you know?” Michael replied. “No you aren’t. You did that because you are playing.” I replied back to Michael. “Fine, I accept. I was lying and also exaggerating. Are you good now?” Michael asked. “No, not until we go inside the mall and buy everything we need for school. After that I will be okay.” I said to Michael. “Okay then, let’s go inside the mall now.” Michael said. 

After Michael said that, he started to walk inside the mall. I turned to look at Janice and she just smiled widely. “You too are just so cute with each other.” Janice said. “Ehh?!” I replied to Janice with a little disgust. Well, this scene is really odd. “Kidding! Let’s go inside, Michael might be waiting for us there.” Janice said. “Yeah.” I replied to Janice and started to walk toward the entrance of the mall. Janice followed me too. 

When we got inside, Michael was already there waiting for us. “Dude, I thought you would not come here.” Michael said as soon as he saw us. “What?” I asked. I don’t know if he is being a jerk or he said that truthfully so that’s why I asked. “Are you kidding me? It took you a long time to get inside.” Michael said with a little annoyance. “Sorry. We talked a little.” I replied to Michael. “Let’s go where the school supplies are.” Janice said. 

As we went inside the shop where the school supplies are, it amazed me of so many things to choose. In the aisle of notebooks, you can see a lot of different notebooks. I don’t know, maybe I am just new to all of these. Because mom used to buy my school supplies and it just happened twice in my life. I used the other pages of my notebooks for the other year. And if it is all used, Mom would buy another. I remember even being bullied because I can’t buy new supplies every year and just kept on using the same school supplies every year. 

“Hey, why don’t you start choosing and stop staring at all of them.” Michael said as he patted my back. I think he saw me again staring blankly at the things. I know that Michael saw being like this whenever I am new to the place and things. “Yeah.” I replied to Michael and started to choose notebooks. “Hey, we will be needing 8 notebooks but I want you to add another 1 notebook because some teachers will require another notebook for assignment.” Michael said. After hearing him, I immediately started to choose notebooks. “Boys, put your things inside here.” Janice said as she handed us two baskets. One for Michael and one for me. “Thanks!” I said to Janice. “And oh, by the way, if you think that it is already heavy. Just tell us, we have the driver to help us.” Janice said to the both of us. I turned to look at the driver and he just smiled as if he was willing to help us. 

I chose simple notebooks with different colors and designs so I can easily know that each notebook belongs to another subject. After choosing my notebooks I went where I could see the erasers, pencils, pens and colors. They were all in the same aisle just behind the aisle where I chose my notebooks. I started to get each one of them and put them all in my basket. I felt that my basket is heavy and I can't weigh it anymore. “Hey, don’t act as if you can still carry it if you can’t.” Michael said as he helped me carry my basket. “Thanks.” I replied to Michael. “Janice, can you tell the driver to help Nick to his basket? Nick seems like can’t take heavy weights.” Michael said. I don't know if he cares about me or he is simply insulting me. “Okay then.” Janice said and got the basket in my hand and gave it to the driver who was in the aisle where I chose my notebooks. The driver started to follow me around so I could just put my supplies in the basket that he was carrying. Actually, I think that the basket is not that heavy at all but it just happened that I don’t have that much strength to carry these many.

(After 20 minutes)

We are now going home because we finished buying all the school supplies that we will be needing. We also bought bags, of course they are very important. “I am so excited about tomorrow.” I said. I then saw Michael giving me a wide soft smile. I think that he is also excited to have me in his school.
