"Serena?"
"Kaiden? Have you arrived?"
"Yes."
"And how is it?"
"Crap. I don't think I can stay here. And I miss you already."
"I miss you too."
We talked about a few things. I told her about the place and the flat. Actually, I think it wasn't really fun for her to listen to me as I couldn't say any positive thing. She told me about how things were there and she wasn't happy at all. We both missed each other and I felt like I hated my father for doing this to us. Finally, someone knocked on my door and I shouted to wait. Serena heard that as well, so she said she had to work anyway. I told her I'd call her before I went to bed. I opened the door and Helen stood there with a nervous look.
"I'm really sorry for disturbing you, Mr. Caldwell, but your father asked me to let you know the dinner is served and he asked me to lead you to the dining room."
I nodded, even if I was angry with my father, she was kind, so I didn't want to put her in trouble. I followed her.
While we walked to the dining room, I realized I hadn't even wandered around the apartment yet. When we arrived at the dining room, I looked around surprisedly. It was a huge room again with a huge table. It was nicely set up, and also there were two servants standing at the wall in uniform. My dad sat in the front and motioned me to sit down. I sat at the side.
"Kaiden, I know now you are unhappy and I know this place is really different from the farm, but you cannot be in silence forever."
I looked at him.
"No, I can't, and I don't want to, I just don't want to talk to you, that's all."
He looked at me in disbelief.
"Son, I only want you to have a good life. You are going to own everything that I've got now, and I want to give you a strong and working business."
"And what if I don't need that?"
"You cannot say that."
"Why? Why don't you understand? I just want to be happy, and for my happiness I need to have two things, that is the farm, and Serena."
"Son, I know you hate me now, but believe me, you will like it here. I bet you in a few months you won't even want to go back to Texas."
"Oh really? And what makes you think that?"
"Tomorrow you are going to go to school, you will have new friends and I'm sure there will be a lot of nice girls as well."
I looked at him, and I couldn't believe my ears.
"I have a best friend and I have a girlfriend. I have no intention of changing this."
Then I lowered my head to eat my soup. I think he understood what I meant. We finished the conversation and we had dinner in silence.
The next day, I went to school. Actually, they took me to school. The same driver with the same car that waited for us at the airport yesterday.
We went in and after the registration procedure I was led to the class by the director. I thought that was great. They really need to show them I came from a rich family. I was seated next to a girl. She had brown eyes and brown hair. She smiled at me when I sat down.
"I'm Michelle."
"I'm Kaiden."
"Nice name."
"Thanks."
Actually it was annoying how she stared at me. That situation reminded me of Serena. Unintentionally, I've got everything on my mind why she was way better than any girl here. Probably all of them would scream if a horse was close to them. And I didn't even think about cleaning a stable. But Michelle didn't give up.
"Where did you come from?"
"I'm from Texas."
"Oh."
This time the teacher helped me. She told us not to speak. So she stopped questioning me.
The day went quickly. I had a little conversation with a few of my new classmates. When they found out I came from a farm they became curious. Actually they were quite nice. There was a guy called Ben. He was a black guy. He was a good guy. We only talked for a few minutes and I decided I liked him. I think he felt the same. I thought we were going to be good friends.
After the day was over, I couldn't wait to call Serena and tell her about my day, and of course I wanted to hear about hers. So I ran to my room, and called her. We had a long conversation and, if I could, I would have been on the phone with her all the time. Actually, talking to her was nice and painful at the same time. I loved to hear her voice, but I hated that I couldn't touch her. I was sure she felt the same. I could hear the sadness in her voice.
She always smiled, laughed and always joked, but never talked like that. Honestly I was afraid. I was afraid our relationship wouldn't survive this distance. I decided I'm going to visit her as soon as I can.
Serena - My whole life is ruined
I still felt crap because Kaiden left me here alone. I only wished I could wake up and realize that he was next to me and all this was just a bad dream. He kept his promise and called me as often as he could, even if nearly a month has been gone since he left. But today he told me that he'd got closer to his classmates, and I could tell he was excited and somehow happier.
I didn't want to hear this at all. I wanted him to miss me, and I wanted him to want to come back only. I know it was really selfish to feel like that, but I was afraid I was going to lose him slowly. After we talked, I walked to the stable to get Ivy. I wanted to go to the Caldwell farm to see if Eclipse is okay.
