It’s been a week since what happened with Riley.
I have taken it easy by taking a few days off from work. I have been trying to wrap my head around everything. I started to have nightmares about it, which has now caused insomnia.
My mind might go to what happened, but one image pops into my head that makes my heart hurt more.

I shook my head as I tried to get myself ready for work after being off for a few days, but I could hear Kate singing along to the radio in the kitchen.
Kate is still here and has been a godsend. She has become a friend to me and even has managed to help me keep my store open. I showed Kate what needed to be done in the store, and she picked everything up quickly.
“You okay?” called out Kate as I stood in front of the mirror.
