The taxi dropped Alina off at her mother’s apartment just before one o’clock. She’d enjoyed her going away party with her old friends, and it had been especially nice to see Erik there. He was with another girl called Madalina, who really was very pretty. The three of them chatted for a while, and she found out that Madalina was an airline flight attendant, and Erik had met her when he was flying to a training course in Germany.
