Chapter 4 Alaric's Reaction to His Son Rejecting Amethyst

(POV) Alpha Alaric

That night, Alpha Alaric and Desmond walk back to the packhouse in silence.

Alpha Alaric is doing a lot of contemplating about Amethyst's shift.

He had assumed she was going to be special, but tonight, he realized not only was she special, her wolf, Sable, was bigger than his wolf Thorne, and she was even bigger than Donnis, Desmond's wolf.

When they reached the packhouse, they went to the elevator.

To the Alpha floor. Desmond headed to his room when his father told him he wanted to talk to him in his office.

Even though Desmon had a feeling about what was going to happen, he also knew he was going to have to tell his dad that Amethyst was his fated mate. The worst part: he was going to have to tell his father that not only did he reject her, but Amethyst accepted the rejection. Even though Donnis was happy with him for the rejection, he knew Donnis wanted to stick his claws up his ass.

Desmond, what is going on with you son? You look like you are about to piss your pants. I don't like that look on your face. Desmond, boy, I know you too well, so tell me what you are hiding from me and whatever it is, I have a feeling it isn't good. So spill it now.

Desmond looks at his dad, I don't know what you mean. I'm not hiding anything from you. I'm just as shocked as you are about Amethyst and her wolf.

I know there hasn't been one around in over a hundred years.

Desmond, I yell, don't make me use my Alpha command on you, even though you are an Alpha born, my command will still work on you.

So, for your sake, it's best you just spill it now, boy.

Damn, dad OK, I found out this morning that the purple-eyed freak is my mate. Really, that is awesome news Desmond.

I just knew you two were going to be mates. Dad had this smirk on his face. I couldn't understand why he was so happy.

Em, dad, I rejected Amethyst as soon as I sensed she was my mate.

Boy dad, you should have seen the look of pain on her face, especially when Seraphina, Mike and Daniel busted out laughing. It was too damn funny.

"You what, Desmond? " You severed the bond? What madness possessed you to reject her? This whole time, you were pacing like a caged beast because of Amethyst. I need a clear answer! Did she accept your rejection? If she didn't, you can still reverse it—don't waste a second! "

Dad, no way in hell will I accept that freak. She isn't Luna material. The pack wouldn't accept her anyway, they all think she's a freak too.

Besides, she accepted the rejection and rejected me back. Besides, Seraphina comes from Gamma blood, which is stronger and sexier than Amethyst. I have chosen Seraphina as my mate and Luna.

I sit down at my desk. I know there will be no sleep for me tonight as I come up with a recon to keep her here. And Desmond, if I don't sleep, neither do you. So, sit your happy little butt down in that chair and help me come up with something.

We have been sitting here for hours. I look at the clock and see it is already two in the morning. Then that's when Desmond spoke up with a great idea.

Dad, I know what we can do, and it gives us both what we want. I get to mark Seraphina as my mate and Luna and still keep Amethyst in the pack. Tell her that the rejection, as painful as it was, was a necessary political measure. Seraphina’s Gamma alliances secure our borders. And it wasn't meant for her to be Luna, but we want to make her the Head Enforcer.

Wow, about time you used that head of your Desmond. Go get some rest and I will send a link to Jessie to send Amethyst to my office.

And remember I will do all the talking. Make sure all you do is sit there and agree with everything I say. And Desmond, you better pray to the Moon Goddess that it works and keeps Amethyst here. Desmond gets up and leaves the office, and leaves me sitting there. I'm trying to come up with another idea, just in case Desmond's idea doesn't work.

I finally got up and headed towards my bedroom. I have got to get me some sleep, so I can be on high alert for whatever happens tomorrow with Amethyst.
