INVESTIGATION OF THE SCREAMS

543 Words
Grendale in spite of deciding to never go into caves again, slowly and uncertainly treaded towards the cave and was keeping his ears strained for any sort of sound. It was when he was just inside the cave's entrance that the scream once again came to him, this time in echos as if the screamer was deep within the cave. Praying for strength and courage Grendale ventured further into the cave. In spite of the scream being bone chilling there was something in that voice that urged Grendale to follow it despite his instincts and mind yelled at him to turn back from whatever forthcoming danger he was going to face. Still Grendale continued onwards and reached the end of the cave. The back was completely covered in darkness due to lack of holes to let in light ( Duh! it's a cave what do you expect). Squinting in the darkness Grendale tried to see who was screaming but couldn't see no moving soul. Immediately he felt the hairs on the back of his neck stand in fear of something watching from behind. Gulping his fear he slowly turned around and what he saw nearly gave him a heart attack. Almost 15 pairs of hungry bat eyes looked at him from the ceiling. Without making any sudden movements he slowly backed away from them. So far the eyes were only watching him until he accidentally stepped on a stick and a loud c***k echoed in the caves. Grendale went white with fear and almost immediately after that the bunch of bats rained down on him. Trying desperately to escape them Grendale backed off quickly and suddenly tripped over a stone and fell into a deep dark hole hidden within the darkness of the cave. " Aaaaaaaaaaahhh....... " was the only sound that came out of him when he fell through the hole and bumped onto numerous slopey, slippery ledges and slide all the way down to what felt like the center of the earth ( because of all the darkness and fear, the fall and slide did feel looooooong). At last the slide ended and Grendale fell on his butt with a thump. Rubbing it with pain Grendale got up and took notice of his surroundings. There were many sorts of broken rocks which looked like smashed by a giant hand and also there were many big footprints along with many small human sized footprints. The scene looked like a chase had taken place between a giant and a human prey where the prey was scampering for cover and the giant smashed everything to look for it. A shiver ran through him and he rubbed his hands for warmth and comfort. Gulping nervously he lead down the only way which was there and was soon engulfed by darkness. In what felt like hours of walking Grendale finally emerged into a humongous cave with a big gap between the edge he was standing on and the other one just as if someone had pushed down the ground between them. It was here that Grendale noticed that a poor boy with torn but rich looking cloths was screaming with fear and looming over him was what looked like a huge demon completely built of stones.
