A bright red light emitted from the chest forcing them to shield their eyes and turn away. Eventually the light died and blinking their stinging eyes they carefully peeped into the chest. "Huh! I wonder wha' this is and how it could be helpful?", Koda blindly said. Grendale fished out 3 broken pieces of a red glowing metal stick one of which had a sharp pointy end and the third a handle like a sword. " It must definitely be something important for it to be hidden like that", Grendale replied examining the pieces. "Or it must be something that's extremely dangerous and shouldn't be touched. Grendale I don't like the looks of it. I am scared." cautioned the prince.
Grendale was also like having second thoughts about it but you just simply can't throw away something that you found after sustaining so much pains could you? And now dear readers this is where the famous 'curiosity' overtakes our soul and just like every other human in the world even Grendale got hit by curiosity. Unable to make up his mind on whether to keep it or not, he simply puts it into a bag and slung it across his shoulders. Prince Koda didn't say anything about it but just in case kept a sharp lookout on the bag in case anything fishy happened.
Down the ledge both of them narrated what happened and showed their findings to Goltimer. " Hmm. This is a really curious find. Are you sure there wasn't anything else along with it? Something engraved inside or outside the chest, perhaps a scroll, or something?". "We searched everywhere but there was nothing else to be found", replied the prince. "Well lets move on now. We'll figure out what to do with these on the way". Once again the trio started off on their way to the plains. They came across a big cavern where a mild breeze was blowing from the inside. Looking about for any sort of danger they entered the cavern. It was a beautiful cavern with a small pond in the middle full of shiny shells, corals and many small fishes. The breeze was coming from an opening at the other end.
As they were making their way towards the exit two loud growls froze them in their path. Goltimer balled his fists in combat pose and Grendale drew his sword. They spun around looking everywhere but couldn't locate the sound. Keeping a sharp lookout they edged towards the exit. They had barely reached the other end of the pond when once again a growl echoed all around them. They looked at every nook and cranny for the growl source but everything was just dark. Just as they were about to move again Koda gave a high-pitched scream and pointed out to the ceiling where there was nothing but 2 giant balls of what looked like dark green molds of earth stuck to the ceiling. "Umm. What are we supposed to be seeing?", Goltimer doubtfully asks. " Guys I saw those two moving.", Koda's voice was fear filled. " Your highness the light from the pond must have reflected upon those moldy balls and you thought they moved. We have to keep moving we don't have time.", Grendale urged them onwards.
what did the prince see? or thought he saw?
