Just as Grendale had set out for the plains before he could reach the gates of the outskirts of the village, the mayor called him from behind and came sprinting up to him. Panting lightly he said, " Grendale I had quite forgotten to mention earlier but you don't have to walk all the way to the ancient caves to go to the plains. You see when Shifu was alive, after the Great war he had created portal gates at many places for easy traveling and saving time. Why don't you use them to quickly teleport to the cave's exit."
Grendale quite liked the idea. In fact he was secretly disappointed that he had to walk all the way back there and was searching for an alternative.
Agreeing with him Grendale followed the mayor to a small stone archway resembling the same one he had come across before he entered the ancient ruins cave. After they came to it they saw that the portal gate was empty, nothing looking like any sort of portal appeared. It was now that the mayor explained the situation that after Shifu's death all the portals had lost their power source and became blank.
" Now Grendale, please step up in front of the gate. Being Shifu's student you are the next magical warrior after him. Possibly the portals might accept you for their next power source."
Doing as told Grendale stepped in front of the portal gate and waited. It didn't take long for the magic to happen. Within a few moments the 2 lamps kept at either side of the arched gate burst into flames of blue and a smoky, whispery, blue veil of light erupted inside the gate. Both very mesmerized by its appearance. Later the mayor urged Grendale to go in. Grendale looked back for the last time and taking a deep breath stepped into the portal.
After a lot of sickly spinning, finally the portal dropped him off at the same place it had picked him up from. Grendale stared ahead of him with complete determination and ventured out of the cave.
" So this is why the plains are also called sun-kissed grounds. Wow. " Grendale had come to the bottom of the plains and he was overcome by admiration for the plain's golden yellow hills and bright greenery. He had only heard about it from people that it was absolutely beautiful and had always wondered how much of it was true but now on seeing it in live.. man.
Grendale started his climb and reached a few elevated steps that were directly carved from the earth itself. A few distance away he saw a (unusually) big bush that was twitching slightly. Thinking it might be a bird or perhaps a cute rabbit he carefully came near it and poked at it with his sword.
GAAAARRR!!!.... The big bush itself jumped into life and screamed at him. Grendale ran back a few feet and pointed his sword at this enormous bush beetle.
Bush beetles are very small hybrid creatures and mostly live underground until they sense their prey above them and make a quick snatch. Lucky for Grendale it was asleep when he came towards it or else.... Well now let's not think about that.
