Chapter 31: When We Stopped Playing
(Flashback - three days since the bet Jared made with Jade)
Jade looked at Jared, sitting in the cafeteria, chewing on his food, his eyes feasting on her even as he ate, and she knew he was already wondering whether the bet was the right thing to do. She knew he was already thinking about giving up, because she wanted to give up, as well. But they were both incredibly too stubborn to do that.
"You look like hell." Jade said as she passed him by his table. Tom gave her a look that told her he was not amused. Jade smiled at him. "Hello, Tom. How are you this fine day?" She asked with a sweet smile.
"Hello, Jade. Amazing, just before this moment." Tom smiled with a roll of his eyes.
"I don't look like hell." Jared grunted in response to her smug com
