Xavier finally came back home and then when I wanted to explain why I left so abruptly, he asked me to say his name one more time. I do not know why he wants me to say it again but maybe it has to do with the fact that nobody really uses that name. I am not even sure if he likes his new name and if he prefers William but I guess I thought it was the right thing to do.
"Xavier, I just wanted to tell you that I am sorry"
Suddenly a frown appears on his face as if he does not understand what I am saying and then he says.
"What on this earth could you be sorry about?"
"I am sorry that I left you in your deepest darkest moment to go to England. I should have been here"

He avoids my eye contact and then I carry on saying.
