When Winter regained consciousness, she was lying on a hard concrete floor. Her head was throbbing in pain as she moved to a sitting position, but other than that, she wasn’t injured elsewhere. As she looked around, she realised she was in an empty room with boarded up windows. She could see a little because of moonlight seeping through the planks blocking the windows. As her eyes adjusted to the low light, she noticed something in the far corner. She immediately crouched in a defensive poise, ready to attack. Seconds later, a weak voice reached her. “Winter?” It took her a few seconds to realise it was Amelia’s voice. “Amelia!” she called, springing to her feet and rushing across the room. “I’m so sorry, Winter,” Amelia said, crying. “It’s all my fault that you’re in trouble too.” “
