“Stop, Vicker,” Cassia said as he walked past him. He was with Kalan and Oren waiting outside the room. He didn’t stop. Vicker growled as he walked past his brother. He continued down the hallway. Rage rippled through him. He could barely contain it. He gritted his teeth Mystic was pissing her off. She was standing in his way. “Where are you going?” Cassia asked behind me. “I need a moment to breathe,” he said busting through the doors of the garden. He released a breath, unclenching his fists. He closed his eyes for a second, praying for calm, but Cassia came and interrupted him. Vicker growled, snapping his eyes open. “f**k, give me a minute.” “Talk to me,” he said coming to stand in front of him. He grasped his shoulders, making him look at him. “I guess you found out that they’re trying to find her werewolf mate.” “Yes, her sister told me.” Vicker pulled away from him. He walked down the path. He needed a moment so that he could figure out what to do before they found this other male. He had to find a way to win his bride, but that wasn’t going to be easy. He walked around the garden, taking a moment to cool down. He could feel Cassia’s eyes on him. He walked back to him feeling a little better. “What are you going to do? That male can’t come here. He’s going to take her away from you, especially because of your past.” “I know that,” Vicker said looking down on the ground. He wasn’t proud of his past. That’s why he tried hard to save her from reliving it in her memories. But he knew what he had to do. “I’m going to help her. If she wants to find him, I’m going to help her.” “What? What are you talking about?” Cassia gripped his arm. “You can’t do that. She believes he’s her mate, not you. You can’t do that.” “I don’t have a choice. If I want to win her heart, I have to give her mine,” he said walking out of the garden. He knew helping her find the male might be the biggest mistake he’s ever made, but he wanted to see her happy. He could hear Cassia walking behind him. He didn’t say anything else. He followed him back to the room. Kalan and Oren were gone. Vicker hoped that Mae was alone. He turned to his brother. Cassia shook his head. “Do whatever you want. Don’t say I didn’t warn you. You’re going to lose her if you do this,” Cassia said turning to walk away. Vicker sighed. He walked back into the room. He breathed a sigh of relief as he found Mae alone. She was sleeping on the bed, facing the other direction. Vicker walked to the bed. He lay down next to her. He pulled her close, wrapping his arms tight around her. She felt so good in his arms. Vicker closed his eyes enjoying the moment. She moaned. For a second she leaned into him, but she jerked pulling away from him. “Don’t touch me,” she said, sitting up. She stared at him. She didn’t look happy that he was there. Vicker covered his face with his arm. Maybe this was a bad idea. But that was the only way he could stay next to her. “I’ll help you…find him.” He dropped his arm and stared at her. She stared back at him. Her eyes were wide with surprise. Vicker sat up, and leaned against the headboard. “Tell me about him,” he said through gritted teeth. He swallowed his anger, and focused on her. “Uhhhh…I don’t think…”Mae said, shaking his head. “I don’t think I can talk you about him. He’s…you and I… “Don’t think about us. I want to help you. If finding him will make you happy, then… I just want to help.” “I don’t understand,” Mae said. “You don’t have to. Just tell me,” Vicker said even though he didn’t want to hear a word about the male. He wasn’t there but he was taking her away from him. Vicker stared at the mating mark on her neck. The werewolf claimed her. Vicker swallowed the growl that formed in his throat. “I can find anyone I want. That’s one of my talents. The elders used me for that. I’m offering myself to you. Use me.” She stared at him for a full minute before she spoke. “His name is Larson. He’s the alpha of the Silvermoon pack…”she begun. She went on to tell him how they met, even though she didn’t seem to know where he took her. Vicker puzzled over that, but he didn’t ask her. “If we tried to go there, do you think you can find the place again?” Mae nodded. Excitement entered her eyes, making Vicker regret his decision to help her. “I don’t know. I didn’t see anything. But he told me the vampires attacked his pack. You cut down the trees in the forest next to his home with the plan to take it over. But you never came.” Vicker narrowed his eyes thinking back. He didn’t remember much of his past, but he knew Cassia would know if there was a pack they attacked, and not taken over. “What else did he tell you?” “You took some of his wolves. He wanted…” Mae trailed. “What?” “Nothing. Do you think you can find him?” She asked sounding hopeful. “I know there isn’t much to go on. But…” “I’ll find him. But you have to go with me,” Vicker said. “We’re going to search for him together.” “But…” “That’s my condition.” Mae went silent. Time ticked by, and she didn’t say anything. Vicker stood up. He walked to the door. “I’ll do it,” Mae said. Vicker turned to face her. “We leave tomorrow,” he said walking out of the room. He leaned against the door and took a deep breath. Anger and jealousy burned in his veins. He hoped he didn’t chop someone’s head off by the time they found the bastard, Vicker thought as he pushed off the door in search of his brother.
