Jasinda started to see why weed was prescribed for stress. Because after her brother, cousin, and lover proceeded to throw life changing fact after another at her, she was left with a knot in her neck.
Sitting on a mini grey couch, Jasinda was under a blanket with her feet on the wooden coffee table in front of her. The balcony she was sitting on was always her favorite in the house. It was through the media room that you found yourself sitting outside, facing nature.
She could see the mountains and the trees, the mysterious fog that seemed to blow with the cold winter air. Here Jasinda was at peace as the boho chic designed balcony brought her comfort and warmth like it always did.
Letting smoke trail from her lips as she stared off into space, Jasinda jumped when someone put a hand on her shoulder. "Jesus Malcolm. You scared the f**k out of me." Malcolm grinned, "Sorry sis."
Jasinda smiled a little when he took the blunt from her fingers and asked, "Since when do you smoke weed? I thought your first time was enough to put you off for life." Jasinda rolled her eyes as she held up a hand, "I'm starting to see it's appeal now."
Malcolm chuckled and Jasinda looked at him closely, her older brother and her had always been close. Malcolm had been her best friend growing up, he had protected her and doted on her and unlike other older brother's took her everywhere with him.
From the time Malcolm was fifteen and Jasinda fourteen everyone knew if they got one sibling they got the other. And all his friends seemed to love it since Jasinda became like their little sister too.
Running a hand through her hair Jasinda mumbled, "Why didn't you tell me about all this stuff Malcolm? You just left me in the dark?" Malcolm's phone beeped but he ignored it and looked at his sister sadly, "Sis...I didn't mean to leave you in the dark. I just knew I wanted you to be safe until I could tell you everything. When I knew you'd be safe."
Jasinda pouted, "But you didn't think to tell me a killer virus was going to break out?" Malcolm sighed, "After they shuttled the program for taking covid to the war zone, it was bounced back and forth for different things. Illegal immigrant management, African-American ghetto purging, nothing stuck though. We didn't know the U.S was going to launch an attack with covid until it was one launched but not in a control environment like expected. Something went wrong."
Jasinda swallowed hard and Malcolm looked at his little sister as he passed the weed, "Sis..." Malcolm's phone beeped again but he still ignored it as he looked at Jasinda sadly, "I wanted to tell you. But risking you, wasn't an option. But I knew the moment you had no choice but to get the f**k out you would. I kept dropping hints at first for you to come to the cabin but you weren't taking it serious at first. Not until the numbers started to rise and that company you was working for went under."
Scoffing Jasinda mumbled, "Because I didn't know it was going to actually be a thing. I thought it was just the new flu, turns out, it's a malicious attack made by government drones to "Make America White again."
Malcolm shook his head, "Jasinda, America's never been white. It's just been written that way." Jasinda scoffed, "Because who always win?"
Malcolm looked at his sister in near tears, "Not this time!" Jasinda looked at her brother incredulous as she blew smoke out the side of her mouth, "So what are you three going to do?" Malcolm sighed, "The plans are a little murky. Right now we need to keep our heads down until the time to strike approaches. We need to reconvene with others in the Organization."
Jasinda frowned as she fiddled with her necklace, "And in the mean time?" Malcolm shrugged as he looked at Jasinda amused, "It doesn't seem like you and Leo mind spending this much alone time together."
Jasinda felt hot in the face as she blushed, "f**k off Malcolm." Malcolm laughed, "I'm just saying, I saw the way he was looking at you. And you looking at him." Jasinda rolled her eyes, "There was no look!"
Malcolm c****d an eyebrow, "Or how about the fact he called me a while back asking me how to impress you?"
Jasinda honestly felt like melting. And then sitting on Leo's d**k and riding the s**t out of him. Because she honestly loved he called her brother to find out what she liked just so he could win her over.
Smiling, Jasinda mumbled, "You don't mind." Not a question, a statement. And it was pretty easy to see Malcolm didn't mind. He wasn't annoyed or mad his friend and sister were together. If anything he was happy they'd found each other.
"Nah, sis I want you to be happy. And while I might give Leo s**t, he's a good guy." Malcolm sighed a little, "They could have locked me up for killing that government tool who came after him. But they let me go because he bartered for just him. Said I didn't know anything and was just a friend. So they let me go,"
Jasinda leaned on her brother's shoulder, "And I'll be grateful for that forever." Malcolm nodded, "Agreed. So I won't say I don't like him or that you two shouldn't be together just because he's my friend. If anything I like it even more because I KNOW for a fact Leo's going to treat you right."
Jasinda smiled a little as they sat close on the little couch. "Bro...?" Malcolm looked down at Jasinda, "Yeah sis?"
Jasinda licked her lips, "Does this mean....does this mean it's all going to go back to normal? Everything I mean, eventually?"
Malcolm grinned, "Yeah. And it's going to be even better." Jasinda smiled and then Malcolm's phone pinged again and when he went to check it Jasinda asked, "Who keeps texting you?" Malcolm felt hot under the collar as he mumbled, "Just an partner's daughter. I'm helping her out during this pandemic and until it's over."
Jasinda slowly nodded, "So is that your way of saying you have one of your partner's daughters in your bed right now?" Malcolm winced at his sister's cheeky taunt and defensively said, "No. She's...Jade is just an old friend's daughter I'm helping out."
Jasinda smirked, "I don't believe you." Malcolm refused to meet his sister's eyes knowing she'd pry too much out of him if he let her. But Jasinda shrugged, "But fine, if you want to keep your secrets. Keep them, as long as none of them involve m*********r schemes by rich white men trying to kill off everyone."
Malcolm nodded smiling as he passed her blunt back, "Gotcha."
Jasinda smiled a little and both were talking when Leo came out and looked at her, "Hey...can we talk?" Jasinda slowly stood and walked with Leo into her bedroom. Leo came up to her and whispered, "Baby I'm so sorry I was keeping so much from you. But to be honest I didn't know what this was going to become-."
Jasinda shook her head, "Please don't say that." Leo looked at her confused, "Because that makes me think you only really planned for me to be a jump off until you got your pay off for helping the organization."
Leo grabbed Jasinda's hips, "I'm f*****g crazy about you." he rumbled holding her tight. Jasinda exhaled as he breathed in, "And I didn't want to lie to you, I hated I had to. But your brother hadn't told you anything and I remember back in the day when we were first finding out about this stuff he NEVER wanted you to find out. He thought we could put an end to it, when I was in jail those four years? They kept working so this WOULDN'T happen. But it did anyway and now we have to go faze B."
Jasinda looked up at Leo, "And what's that?" Leo stroked Jasinda's face thoughtfully, "A new country for all. A new home, for all." Jasinda looked into Leo's eyes as he promised, "Life as we know it is about to change. Forever."
