“Hey baby, I’m at the gate” Pedro’s voice came through my phone and I almost cursed
“Which gate, I’m not home, I’m at grandma’s house “I said on the other end
“Exactly what I am talking about, just come and open the gate for me, I’m freezing, its cold out here” he said and I was left with no choice than to go check if he was really at the gate or he was just playing his stupid pranks at me
“You know you had me panicking” I said as I disentangled myself from the hug and pulled me to his chest and kissed my lips, I didn’t expect him to kiss me because that got me off guard, I felt like my legs were jelly like, he had always had me anticipating for more, he made me have the butterflies whenever he was around
“I’m sorry baby; mom was so mad at me that she grounded me, I had lost my phone that I couldn’t even text nor call you, she even thought I had hidden my phone but it got lost even before I got home yesterday, so she had me thoroughly checked if I was trying to hide it from her, I just bribed that gatekeeper to let me go, I wanted to see you, I missed you so much “he said and at one point I felt like I was so in love with this guy
“It’s okay, do you have any idea that I was arrested yesterday? And I spent the whole night in the police cell, and you were nowhere to be seen, I thought you had dumped me” I said and he caressed my cheeks lovingly and reassuringly
“You shouldn’t worry about that honey, I can never leave you, I love you, I’m sorry, I didn’t show up ,I was also arrested, I tried so much to talk to the police officers to leave you alone that I was guilty for what I did but they wouldn’t listen to me” he said
“They wanted me to spent the rest of the night in the police cell, dad was so mad at me but he asked for forgiveness today morning and I totally understand why he was mad, mom paid the bail for me so” I came here immediately, I said and he nodded
“I talked to her” he said
“Ooh you did?” I asked
“Of course, how do you think I knew you were here talked to her and apologized? Your mom is the sweetest woman , she forgave me but she warned me from driving at night and told me to be careful with you because you are her lovely daughter” he said and I found myself smiling at it , I knew my mama loved me and that still makes smile to date. I really miss her sometimes; I wish I could tell her that
“Ooh wow, I didn’t even think about it, she went to discharge Talia from the hospital”
“I know she told me so, I even refunded her the money she used to bail you out, she didn’t want to take it but assured her it was from the bottom of my heart and I was so sorry for what I had caused her, the pain I caused you and everything” he said and I nodded in agreement”
“Okay sure, I missed you. Let’s get inside, my cousin must be wondering what is happening”
“Wait, you have a cousin!”
“Of course the one I told you about, Kenadi is her name”
“Oh now I remember, let’s go inside , I asked my chauffer to bring your car here, I hope that is okay with you” he asked
“I’m more than okay, thank you”
“Oh don’t even mention it, I love you Danelya”
“I love you Pedro” I said and walked into the house, Kenadi was sitting on the couch, browsing on her phone and when she saw Pedro she gasped but she was quick to hide it
“Welcome home, Ped…”
“Its Pedro, you are Kenadi right?”
“Yes, Danelya is my cousin” she said as they greeted each other”.
“Yeah I know, I have a lot about you”
“All good I guess?”
“Of course”
“Pedro, what will you take?” I decided to break the conversation
“I’m fine Danny, I don’t need anything right now” he said and I just took a seat beside him as we continued making stories
“So why didn’t you go school?” I asked him and he cleared his throat noisily, I knew there was something behind it
“Hmm…I just decided not to, because you were not going, it wouldn’t be okay if I went on my own, I want to go with you to school, so I’m going to wait for you”
“Hmm… that is sweet thanks for that but I think you should just go to school” I said trying to convince him but he wouldn’t listen to me, he was so determined to be with me, he wanted to stay back with me, which I appreciated still
“No Danny, I want to stay here with you, we will go back to school together, next week, despite I already talked to Mrs. Naomi, she allowed us to stay home until when we will feel better, so right now you should be focusing on taking care of Talia” he said and it kind of made sense to me, I had to take care of Talia’s wound until when she got better
“Okay…you are probably right”
We continued chatting and making stories with Kenadi and Pedro as he made fun of me and trust me you, I was getting used to this funny part of him, he was a whole vibe and a lovely person, what I didn’t know was the fact that we were having that fun for the last time before fear and suffering, took in, it wasn’t going to be the same for me, not just my family
After about an hour of talking, Pedro said he wanted to go home, that his mom would freak out if she found out that he was not in the house and that h would call me later when he got himself a new phone, I took him to my room upstairs, I wanted us to have some time alone and Kenadi had no problem with it, so I took my phone with me as we headed upstairs
“You know I love you right?”he asked and I only nodded in response, I loved Pedro and I still do up to date, I realized my feelings for him on the first day when we bumped into each other and that has never changed ever since he felt the same for me
“Yeah I do and I love you back, I’ve always loved you” I said as I tiptoed on my toes to kiss him, Pedro was slightly taller than me, with his dreamy eyes that I always got lost in
“Thanks I want you to take care of yourself and promise me that you will be safe until you come back home,I miss you around and I hope whatever is going on in your life will be finally solved and that you will get back to the way you initially after all these ends” he said and I highly hoped it was going to happen, it was all I ever wanted
“Yes I hope so too, I miss my happy family, and you should be safe for me too”
“Anything for you my love, now let me get going before mom freaks out” he said and I only nodded, I didn’t want him to leave not just yet, but before I could reply back my phone rang, it was grandmas number
“Hey sis? It’s me, Talia, something bad happened “she said in barely a whisper
“What happened are you okay? Where is mom?”
“They went with her!” she said amidst sobs and I immediately knew something was wrong somewhere
“I don’t know sis, you have to come, grandma is dying “she said and I immediately freaked out
“What do you mean she is dying?” I asked my expression hardening
“She was shot, just come sis, I don’t even have the strength to talk, come quickly”
“Okay I’m on my way” I said and she hung up
“What was that?” Pedro asked and I couldn’t control the flow of my tears
“Grandma was shot and my parents were abducted, I need to go” I said as I grabbed a trench coat from the wardrobe and started heading out
“Wait, I’m coming with you “he said and followed me outside, my heart was literally beating furiously against my chest, I thought we were going to b okay after Talia was discharged but I was totally wrong
