Landon and I stood in the cabin, staring at the empty space where Madison had just been, standing with that fae. They had vanished in an instant, leaving us no chance to reach her in time. I tried—I really did. While Landon rushed to the spot, searching for any sign of them, I felt frozen in shock. She was just gone; I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Madison had chosen to leave with the fae. All I needed to do was utter those simple words: that I accepted her. Yet, I couldn't find the courage to say them. What was wrong with me? Now, I might have lost her forever.
No. I couldn’t let that be the case. I wasn’t about to give up on my mate. Determined, I turned to the front door and bolted outside without a second thought.
