The four remaining team members were now standing in a throne room. The crystal white motioned along the porcelain walls. Samael sat on a throne. His eyes were a beautiful hazel which scorned like hell. His mug alone was fear itself.
"So, you thought you could face me?" he asked.
"We come to bring back Christmas and save the people," whimpered Mina.
Samael chuckled as he collectively sat on his throne. His perfected figure couldn't be ignored. Even his smile was sharp from a distance. When spoke, his voice was obeyed out of fear. Only the brave could stand in such a presence. In contrast, a fool would come to their senses before objecting against such a man.
"You say you're here to bring Christmas and save the people," said Samael as he stood high on his feet. "But who will save you... from me"?
He looked not for an answer. Rather, he took joy that the three were willing to face him.
Energy soared through the room. Vanessa coated herself in a non-elemental magic aura. Logan flipped a card into his pocket for later use.
"Now show me, what humanity has to offer"!
Vanessa ran up slicing her sword at a mid-range. Blasts of lightning shot towards Samael with each strike.
He bypassed each hit with ease for a kick at her. As she flew, Logan trapped him in a barrier.
As he swooped in to cut the angel's legs, Samael busted out of the barrier. He punched Logan in the face a few times. He yoked the boy by the neck and threw him into the air. The same arm then shot a series of light and dark energy blasts at him.
Samael was only stopped by a hurl of lightning that threw him to his other foot. Vanessa swooped jamming her blade into the ground. The ferret jumped in for a bite against Samael.
Vanessa charged Zantetsuken believing the ferret and ice could hold Samael down. Mere seconds after, Samael slammed the ferret into the ice. Ice cycles pierced up, impaling the poor ferret.
Its life depleted, allowing the beast one final attack to protect Mina. She cried away from dance as the ferret shot out a smoldering ball from its mouth.
Samael broke the ice and jabbed a firm knife-hand into the ferret's neck. Its blood squirted like sprinklers across the ground
After flipping a second card into his pocket, Logan used his sword to inflict a binding spell on Samael.
"Zantetsuken!" yelled Vanessa dashing towards the angel.
The binding worked for a mere second, as the Zantetsuken took merely a nice chunk of life out of the archangel.
The moment felt as though time itself had stopped. Samael grabbed the necks of Vanessa and Logan to spin them around. They both held his arms in an attempt to cut into them. But the heavy winds being summoned prevented them from moving.
Samael laughed as he threw both into the air. They floated in mid-air trying to gain control of their bodies. Even Mina was gliding up from the strong wind.
Samael stretched out 8 white wings from his back and summoned a sword to his palm.
He first launched himself at Logan who was charging his third card. The archangel's blade slammed him against a wall with a greater force than before. The card fell with no further effect.
Vanessa felt the buffs wearing off. She shot out fire projectiles and ended with her Venus Flower combo. The room felt like a furnace as the flames engulfed the winds.
Logan located Samael within the flames. He Flipped a few hand seals and shot a magical arrow from his palm.
The arrow struck the archangel, compressing the furnace upon him. The wind subsequently died down, allowing Samael and the team to land back down at a steady pace.
His body was digesting the impact in place. The sword he summoned was laying on the sparkling ground.
Logan yelled for Mina to dance as he and Vanessa ran for an attack.
The two slammed their blades into Samael in every way possible. His neck, liver, even his spine was struck by the two.
The flames that burned his skin were healing as his grin grew. Yet no matter how hard they struck, they could never get a drop of blood from the angel.
Once the compressed flames were healed from his body, the two gained their distance. Logan flipped his third card into his pocket whereas Vanessa coated herself in non-elemental magic again.
"We shall end the games," commanded the archangel.
His voice echoed as his hazel eyes glowed. The obedient sword flew to his palm.
Vanessa ran towards him for a preemptive strike. However, Samael slammed her blade down with his own. He sliced her face and chopped into her.
The buffs and magical coating were barely enough to withstand his attacks.
Logan ran his sword into Samael. Samael swung his blade toward logan but missed by an inch. Logan jolted his fighting stance in a pattern that Samael interrupted.
An explosion came to both of their feet. Logan blew back with his legs now soaked in blood whereas Samael felt nearly a tingle. Luckily, Logan flipped his fourth, and final, card into his pocket.
Vanessa punched towards Samael's head. He easily dodged and threw Vanessa to the ground. She caught the landing along with a series of strikes from his blade.
Each strike felt as though it broke through her bones. Mina's buffs and auras were of no match for his power. Vanessa's coating was destroyed.
In mid-strike Samael came to a halt.
"Oh. I see you met my first wife," he said staring at Logan.
Logan coughed and bled as a lifeless aura swirled around him. A faint image of a large sword foreshadowed his short blade.
"Mina! give me power!" he yelled as his life ticked away.
She cried and sweated away as she focused her buffs towards Logan.
Samael slashed his sword towards Logan, sending multiple waves of finessed light and dark energy.
Logan ran and skid past all of the attacks to get close towards the archangel. He was met graciously with a direct attack from his sword.
Right when the two were near clashing with one another, Vanessa stabbed herself In the shoulder with her broken blade. This sacred monk ability enabled her to channel her life energy into her attacks.
With the increase in power, she shot Samael in the back.
His blade came sideways towards Logan's sword when he was struck by Vanessa's lightning. Logan skid low once more to drive his otherworldly blade into Samael's center.
The blade tore through Samael's skin as though it didn't exist. His soul was being cast out like a heathen on sacred ground. His end within this body was here.
It was fun knowing humanity had some fight left in them. That they were willing to fight for their treacherous ways. Samael felt the fragments of his soul that possessed the enslaved body returning to his realm.
He backed away from Logan's sword until he had a full view of his two opponents. Logan was on the ground dying while Vanessa was suffering from a throbbing heart. The air grew dark and eerie with each second Samael's spirit was being released.
Samael laughed, "I look forward to our battle in person".
As Samael's body dropped dead, Vanessa ran towards Logan's side. Mina tried to join their side but was scolded by Vanessa to keep dancing. She tried her best, but her footing was off to that of a toddler.
Logan pleaded to be taken to the portal before it was too late. Vanessa struggled to drag him as she was at the brink of death. She sought guidance from Logan. His only answer was to follow the path to take Mina to the guardian angel.
Once at the portal, Mina sobbed at Vanessa's side. Logan reached his hand towards the portal to direct them to their original platform. His eyes closed and his hand fell. Vanessa grabbed his sword to have a weapon while holding Mina's hand.
Now finished with the blood, the two stepped forward into the platform. It was the original that they had first stepped foot on.
As they stepped forward another platform connected to lead them upwards.
It felt like her first victory. Vanessa clenched Mina's hand to take her up to see this guardian angel. The pain still struck, but not nearly as hard as the spear that shot through her back.
As before, one of Samael's devilish angels had attacked.
"Run!" yelled Vanessa as she channeled lightning through the spear.
Mina gasped for air before sprinting up the platform.
Vanessa felt the lightning rip her shoulders off. Her own blood splashing into her face. But even worse did she see more angels chase after Mina.
Her body fell lifeless with the spear. Nobody was there. Just the pale white platform and angels flying over.
She slowly rose again without pain. Logan, Jaivva, and Hakim stood by her side as lifeless spirits to no longer interact with the game.
"Well, all we can do now is watch and hope she makes it," said Hakim.
