The Blind Angel

Frost blew past them as the four jumped through the mirror. They landed on fully white porcelain tile that formed a platform in midair. Or rather one would say mid-frost due to the thickness of the air. As far as the eye could see it was all white. Other platforms were seen in the distance. None were reachable. A giant white statue stood out with an eye on the world of the living. "Careful," said Logan, "It's common for gods and celestials alike to possess statues as Agrat did". The cool atmosphere itself was just a ruse. The temperature was neither hot nor cold. The curse that tormented them mere seconds ago was now lifted. Despite the calming nature, Vanessa had one thing to say. "Logan," she said, "No matter what happens, good game". His smile trickled up to an embarrassment. He gave both Mina and Vanessa a hug, assuring that it's been a good game alongside them. It was this side of Logan that gave Vanessa butterflies. "I take it 'this' is the spirit of Christmas, ain't it?" asked a deep voice echoing through the sky. "It's a shame how humanity has tied such pagan rituals to virtue". The statue rotated so its eyes pierced downwards at the team. A porcelain platform connected to the one they were standing on. "Don't be scared," said the voice, "I don't use dirty tricks to defeat my enemies". The four began running towards the platform. Once on, another appeared. They were being led upwards towards another platform. Standing now in the center of that platform, the team stared out in anticipation for something to come. "Above!" yelled Logan as he jumped away. Two horned-angels slammed their spears into the platform. Vanessa dodged by an inch and sliced one of the angels. Logan exploded two cards on the angels as they both jumped towards Vanessa and Logan respectively. Mina began dancing to give them strength. One angel remained offensive to attack Vanessa. It slammed its spears in quick rotations, throwing her off balance. The other angel created beams of light that burnt Logan. He attempted to counter using darkness, but the light was too strong here. A faceless lion jumped towards Mina only to be intercepted by the ferret that was now equivalent in size. It curled its body onto the faceless lion and bit at its neck. The lion tried to shake off the ferret to no success. It took its claw to pry it off, but Mina stopped it with her axe. The lion attempted to grab Mina despite the ferret on its neck. She ran and dodged each strike until Logan lured the angel attacking him to hit the lion with a ray of light. The faceless lion fell towards the ledge, allowing the ferret to knock it off completely. It jumped over to help Vanessa fight her horned angel as Logan realized it wasn't even a question. Logan ran towards the angel for an attack. The angel itself used two wings to cover its face and created a sphere of light around itself. It charged towards Logan at full speed. He swiftly dodged and parried the attack with the steal command. As soon as the horned angel dropped its spear, Logan kicked it up with his legs and stabbed it into the angel's chest. The angel formed a ball of light that Logan could tell can instantly kill him. Yet, he held to the spear tight and allowed the angel to fire its attack. The angel watched as the attack blew Logan off the platform. It grabbed its spear from its chest just when Logan slammed his short sword into the angel's throat. Ripping out his blade, Logan taunted the angel asking where is its friend. Vanessa was relieved that Logan managed to trick a single angel into killing the other two. It was a unique style of fighting she wasn't used to from him. "You know, God is already angry. How much more would you love to test The Lord's patience?" asked the deep voice. Platforms rose again, leading the team to a portal like before that rested in midair. Logan made a quick analysis of the portal. But Samael's influence was too strong for him to overcome. Vanessa waited for him to finish before she took a defensive stance and jumped into the portal. After Mina, Logan and the now oversized ferret jumped in. They stood in a small courtyard the grass was white as everything else around them. Snow drifted across the field, yet never appeared to stick. A black tower, standing high above ground foreshadowed them. In front of that tower was a white-clay statue of an angel. His shoulders were broad as to match his rich slay robes. Its eyes were covered. However, he easily grabbed the great sword standing in front of him. A deep voice chuckled throughout the dense air. "Do you really think you can defeat me, The Angel of Death?" asked the statue. "Vanessa, get ready!" yelled Logan She had already cloaked herself in lightning ready for the fight. "I'll just dance," said Mina as she stared at the scary statue. Logan charged in first towards the statue. Vanessa remained a few feet to his right. Her eyes peeled on Samael's statue watched as he near-instantly dashed in front of Logan. Samael slashed his blade at Logan at full force. Each strike near-freezing Logan alive. Logan instructed Vanessa to hold back while he dodged each of his attacks. Samael caught him in a frenzy of downward slashes that left Logan immobilized in place. "Bind!" yelled Logan. A symbol formed under the statue that trapped him. Logan jumped away, detonating the symbol with a quick weave of hand seal. Smoke surrounded the statue, but it didn't protect from Vanessa. She ran through, slicing her sword at its nose. The statue ducked down and punched her in the gut. It started to freeze her until Logan sliced towards his ribs.  Samael briefly lost focus, giving Vanessa the opportunity to punch his face with her free hand. She hit his cheek in her attempt. The statue grabbed their arms, spun around, and slammed them into each other. He grabbed both his and Vanessa's sword in mid-air, stabbing hers right through Logan. Logan kicked Vanessa away to prevent injury just to be slammed down into the frosted grass. Vanessa shot out a bolt of lightning timed perfectly with a bite from the ferret. "Don't let him grab his sword!" yelled Logan as he rolled away. With ease, Samael tossed the ferret away and reached for his sword. Vanessa kicked the sword away and began parrying Samael's strikes with her own. His punches crushed through her hands with each passing blow. She attempted to electrocute him of which there was no effect. "Scatter!" called Logan. A burst of energy shot from the symbol to which the statue was binding throughout its body. Cracks were seen forming as a slam of the temple doors was heard. A giant snake-like dragon with a lion's face flew out towards the pair. A ball of light energy charged in its mouth as it flew into the air. Luckily, Mina managed to keep up her now sloppy cheers. Vanessa sucked through the pain in her arms and seized the moment to punch the statue in the nose. It didn't break. Samael in fact countered by punching Vanessa away. The blood dripping from her nose was not the simulated kind. Nor was the concussion she felt. The wind rose upwards as the dragon shot down a ball of light meant to obliterate the entire field. Sure it would destroy everything including the statue. But that wasn't of value to The Angel of Death himself. Logan smacked his hands together calling "Condense". It took a lot of his energy, but the entire impact was strictly impacted onto the statue. Shockwaves from the blast itself knocked down everybody else. The statue crumbled in bits, fading in the wind. Logan ran over as the dragon flew down for an attack. Vanessa launched a well-charged lightning attack towards the dragon to keep it at bay. However, it only halted it for a few seconds. A dark aura grew around Logan as he threw out his hand towards the dragon. Right as the dragon bit towards Vanessa, it turned away and flew up in circles. Logan himself dropped to the ground, holding his stomach in pain. Vanessa cluelessly ran off to help Logan as he screamed in pain. He stabbed himself with his final syringe to cure the terror that overcame him. She tried to pick him up to escape. But he denied her help and explained that thanks to Mina's buffs he was powerful enough to compress the dragon's attack onto Samael. In addition, he took control of the undead dragon. After a big hug, Logan analyzed the portal that came in from. Vanessa was congratulating Mina on her performance along with her ferret. Mina couldn't help but cover her eyes from the embarrassment of praise. Logan acknowledged her stating that they won't be able to win without which cause Mina to finally accept her role proudly. Once Logan figured out the portals, he made clear they were not ready to fight Samael yet. The two girls were confused about what more they could possibly do. Logan broke it down that Samael has control over the land and that in order to beat him they must weaken that control. Only then will he be weak enough for Logan to kill him. "'We' will kill him," corrected Vanessa. Logan activated the portal and answered, "No. In order for us to win this, I will have to die". Utter confusion came to the faces of both girls. "Don't worry," he smirked, "As long as we win, that's all that matters". If it wasn't for the confidence in Logan's voice, Vanessa would've argued. But with the portal now fixed, they decided to just finish the game.
