Vanessa and Logan swam towards land. The music had a dark tone. Nobody knew where the attack was going to come from. But they all felt in their hearts that something was near.
"Yo!" yelled Jeff as the piano began playing a furious tone filled with rapid strokes of keys.
His eyes darted across the cave, seeing almost nothing except darkness. His heart raced migraines to his head in anticipation. Andres felt his heart pick up as he didn't know what to expect either.
Vanessa and Logan had reached the saturated ground, wringing out their clothes. They both realized that the cave was now right-side up.
Logan knew the gist of what was happening regarding the music but remained silent for their benefit. Vanessa noticed how panic was affecting everybody. Even the wet hairs on her back stood up as she heard the piano continue to play.
"Bro, let's just go!" yelled Jeff.
Andres shouted, "Everybody follow me".
"Wait!" shouted Vanessa, "Wee need to stay steady. No sprint".
"Huh?" asked Andres
Vanessa looked up to find her words, "Wee need to stay calm... Aaand not freak out".
Andres led them all on a slow trot while running the team the breathing techniques. It was extremely difficult for each person to maintain their breathing as the music was weighing heavier on their psyche.
While Andres looked back in an attempt to calm everybody down, a portion of the cave erupted towards the team. Calling out, "Wall," Andres greatly reduced and tanked the oncoming boulder.
"Andres!" yelled Vanessa as he was being crushed into a wall.
He pressed the boulder away from his body. His muscles were sore and burning as if they were going to c***k.
Mere seconds were away from being crushed. Jeff fumbled his g*n into his shoulder and shot at the boulder in hopes of destroying it.
Instead of the boulder breaking, it flinched away. Andres fell in relief to catch his breath. The boulder motioned itself to attack Andres once again.
Before it came close to attacking him, Vanessa ran towards hit, slamming her lightning coated katana into it.
As she sliced away, she noticed the boulder appeared to be more of a claw.
Logan directed Dani to a cave wall, "Fire"!
The piano music itself came to a drop as the boulder-like bat claw retracted towards the wall. The music's tempo remained steady indicating the fight wasn't over. Rather something was in the works.
Vanessa stood in front of Andres panting away as she kept her eyes peeled for any threats in the darkness. Jeff called for everybody to huddle by Andres as they reorient themselves.
Rumbling was heard with a slight uptick in the music. Logan kept watching across the cave for surprise attacks.
Andres who was watching the rumble relayed that it was in fact a giant bat of some sort.
A smooth surface in the distance, at least 60-feet wide, was realized to be the creature's wings. The boulder that attacked before was clearly the long bony arm of a bat. The wings were attached from the elbow towards the wall, assuming the hip. It was a big boy for sure. But how big and devastating was the question.
The creature was slowly positioning itself towards the team. Jeff thought quickly to run the team away now that Andres was back on his feet.
As soon as The Wild Bunch began to run, the music paired the giant bat's movements with a rhythm that continuously fell to a silence.
The stop in the music came a moment after another. Each fall of silence weighed in heavily as it paired with large outbursts from the creature.
Andres maintained talking to the team as a means of keeping them calm. It was futile, for the music's effects were too strong.
Once two purple double-doors were in sight, the giant slammed its arm towards the team. Andres noticed Half of the team stopped running from the last drop in the music, prompting him to defend them as he did before.
There was a sharp crescendo in the piano's tune for the engagement. Vanessa quickly sliced the wrist of the giant bat, causing it to swing its arm away to block the exit.
High pitched clicks echoed through the cave. It was like an odd techno drum played alongside the piano. Logan set off his fireworks, sending flares towards the giant bat.
An emphasis was heard in the music as the light revealed a giant bat's fat snout coming down at them. Dani flinched, shooting the bat away.
Pieces of rock fell off the giant bat, landing aside as the bat itself backed away.
"Its skin is made of rocks," said Vanessa, "We need Jeff to shoot it".
It took Jeff a moment to realize he was in the spotlight before he started to shoot. The giant bat responded with a full swing of its free arm.
Logan jumped towards the giant bat's body to dodge. Vanessa on the other hand pierced her sword into the arm, holding the attack away from her teammates.
Unfortunately, her gallantry was only so strong. The giant bat continued to press its arm, pushing Vanessa into her team with much force.
Everybody was using this time to move out of the way. Logan, who was safely positioned towards the giant bat, had pinpointed its exact location.
He began a chant with his hands forming a diamond shape at the giant bat. "Fire," he called, shooting out an arrow of light directly into the giant bat's eye.
The giant bat dropped its head, screeching in pain. It retracted its attacking arm to cover its eyes. The music fell to a melody that comforted the team to counter.
The giant bat shook its head with tears dropping down its rugged cheeks.
The cave was lit well, from Logan's flares, enough for Jeff to shoot the giant bat's head. Each bullet pierced through, sending it into a frenzy away.
It screeched at a distance as it slammed itself into a wall. Jeff regained control, directing everybody to run through the double doors.
