10 Meeting the Alpha (2)

Marcus groaned as he woke up. He could feel someone leaning over, and staring down at him. He looked around him and found that he was sleeping on the floor just inside the door that led outside. He stared at it. It was still open, and the forest lay beyond. He clenched his jaw as anger filled him. His wolf forced another change on him. “This is really getting out of hand,” Luke said above him. Marcus pushed to his feet irritably. It wasn’t like he didn’t know that. Luke was stating the obvious. Marcus shook his head and walked to his room anger in his every movement. “Marcus?” Luke called him. “Not now!” he shouted with a growl. He didn’t want to talk about his wolf’s power or how he lacked control over it. He walked into his room, and headed straight for the bathroom. He walked into the shower and turned on the water. He didn’t even wait for it to warm up. He took a quick shower, and stepped out. Luke was there when he walked into the bedroom. “What happened to you last night?” he asked looking at him concerned. “Should I start locking the door?” “Do you think that is going to stop him?” he asked with a shake of his head. There was nothing that could stop his wolf when he wanted to do something. The fact that he forced the change on him and kept him in the dark meant that there was something that his wolf wanted and he was keeping it from him. Marcus wanted to know what it was. What was it that he didn’t trust him enough to let him know? Marcus shook head hating his relationship with his wolf. It was like they were never on the same page no matter how hard he tried to get him to trust him. “I’ll go and see professor Bedford. He might know how I can get my wolf back on my side. Not that ever had him on my side, but he’s never shoved me in the dark like this. I always know when power becomes too much. Last night there was nothing like that.” “What were you doing when it happened?” Luke asked. “I was getting ready to sleep, and then I don’t remember anything,” he said walking the closet and choosing simple jeans and a t-shirt. “That’s strange. I didn’t hear anything,” Luke said. “I guess he wanted to sneak out or something.” Marcus didn’t even understand why. He allowed his wolf to do whatever he wanted. Why did he feel the need to hide whatever it was from him? He finished getting dressed, and walked out of the room, heading to the garage. He didn’t want to wait long enough to eat. He needed to know what was wrong with his wolf. “Wait I will go with you.” “No,” Marcus said gruffly. He wanted to be in and out of the school. He hated the place and going back to it always reminded him of the past. He entered the garage and picked up the keys of the Mercedes Benz from the wall. He got into the car and drove off. You’re really messing with me this time, he silently said to his wolf. He shook his head when he didn’t even bother to give him an answer. f**k. Marcus clenched his jaw and sped down the road. Trees moved fast along the road outside. The forest that his wolf liked to roam surrounded him in the car. And he wondered what he was looking for in there. You know you can tell me whatever it is, he tried again. But he was met by a thick wall of silence. Marcus bit into his bottom lip until he tasted his blood. His wolf was always like this – too powerful to be tamed. It didn’t even like the minor control he had to impose on it so that he wasn’t more of an animal than a man. He lived in the human world. He was a werewolf yes, but he still had to abide by the rules of the human world. But his wolf didn’t like that. He wanted full control. It wasn’t like his wolf didn’t protect him, or follow his lead when he needed to exert his power over the alphas he ruled over. He did protect it, but Marcus came to think that it was because his wolf was the ultimate alpha and there was no way he was going to submit to others. In that regard it worked to his favour. But there was this side to him, that even confused Marcus. His wolf had a mind of its own. And he wasn’t going to control him. Marcus tightened his hands around the steering wheel, because it was really getting tiring. He turned onto the road that led to the school. There were a few trees along the road that separated the school from other building in town. They concealed the school from the humans that lived nearby.      Marcus was about to pass the trees and come to the fence of the school when he saw a flash of red hair that he couldn’t erase from his mind. The memory of Mikaela staring up at him with her green eyes, filled his mind. His heart skipped a beat at the sight of her. He narrowed his eyes as he stared at her not understanding why his heart just skipped a beat just then. Mikaela looked this way and that and then took off in a run in the direction that he had come. “Is she running away?” Marcus asked himself. His wolf growled inside him finally saying something. Now you say something, Marcus said to him turning the car to follow Mikaela. She ran along the road looking back a few times as if she was checking if someone was following her. Marcus drove along her and then hit the horn. She turned to him. Her eyes went wide when she saw him and took off in a run changing direction. She ran into the trees. “s**t!” Marcus growled driving to the side of the road and parking the car. He got out and ran after her. She was no match for him, and he was closing in on her in a few seconds. “Don’t make me chase you. You’re not going to like it when I catch you.” Marcus said not even breathing hard as he came to a stop behind her. But she kept running. “Mikaela!” he called her using his wolf’s forceful power on her. She clutched her chest, coming to a stop.   He released the power and walked to her. She gasped for air, her arms still wrapped around her. His heart skipped another beat, but this time in worry for her. She looked a little pale and breathless. “Just breathe,” he said coming to stand close to her. She shook her head as if in defiance. Marcus clenched his jaw as the need to make her submit to him filled him. He could feel his wolf, burning with the need as if there was something that was going on that Marcus didn’t know about. He felt weird standing there next to her. Marcus took a step back. “Where do you think you’re going?” he asked staring at her. His body filled with anger, and he embraced it, because anger he could understand. “You think I brought you here so that you can run away. This is not a game little girl. You will pay for your family’s sins. You will leave when I am done. And not a moment too soon.” Mikaela didn’t say anything. She stared at her feet. Marcus hated that she was ignoring him. She wasn’t quaking at his feet like many other wolves did. He took her arms, lifted her off her feet and shook her hard. Until she felt her body ache. Mikaela clenched her teeth not giving into the cry she could feel bubbling deep inside her. Marcus let her drop to the ground. She cried out as her knees hit the ground. “Get up!” Marcus shouted, scaring Mikaela into staggering to her feet. “You are mine. Do you hear me? There is nowhere you can hide that I won’t find you. That mark on your shoulder will always means I can find you anywhere.” Mikaela’s hand flew to the mark on her neck and shoulder. Her fingers trembled a little. He stared at her even though he couldn’t see her face. Her thick red hair covered her face. He wanted to push it to the side so that he could see her face. But the thought of touching it...Marcus shook his head confused at the strange feelings that filled him.  He narrowed his eyes on her. Fuck...what was he feeling. Anger flooded him again, and he snatched her arm and pulled her towards the car. “You run away again, and you won’t like what I do to you,” he threatened as he pulled her along. His wolf inside him whined, clearly not liking what he was doing. You, shut the hell up, Marcus said too mad. He didn’t even understand where his anger was coming from. It was only normal for her to run away from the place she didn’t want to be. But the thought of her disappearing, had him on edge. And he didn’t even understand why. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that this was his way of making Dimitris and Layla to finally pay, and she was making it hard for him to do that, Marcus nodded because that was the only explanation he could come up with.
