RONAN Iris came home much later. I was in my study, staring at reports I couldn't focus on. I had been here for hours. Reading the same lines over and over and not retaining anything. When I heard the front door open, I didn't move. I heard her footsteps in the hallway before she paused outside the study door. Finally, she knocked and pushed open the door and stepped inside. "Hey," she said softly. "Hey." I REPLIED dryly. She crossed the room slowly and stood behind my chair.
