Kai stands there watching the whole scene. He is trying hard not to react, he is trying to restrain himself, but he can’t even look. Yet he cannot look away, standing still is wrong, moving is wrong, his heart twists and his anger grows at his own hopeless situation.
Kylie’s face is crazed as the blade slices closer and closer to Ember.
Kai closes his eyes. The only way he can deal with this is to walk away, but he is not willing to do that either.
It is just too much. The line that is hanging onto his reason that has been fraying steadily, then reinforced with Ember’s look, finally snaps.
If he doesn’t do this, he is not future Alpha Kai. He might as well put his wolf into a permanent rest as he would be unworthy to wield such a powerful wolf. He strides forward with confident steps.
