Aubrey's POV:
I am making my way to the library to study for a test this afternoon. I took longer strides to reach the library before it gets crowded. Students here love to study inside the library. Who won't be? The CDU library has everything! from comfortable couches, nooks and crooks, somewhere you can be alone, a private room to yourself, a coffee shop and of course, charging stations. There is even a sleeping area!
I sat on the couch and laid all my books on the table. I took out my highlighter and started flipping my textbooks. Sometimes I try to second guess why I chose this course, the textbooks are up to a thousand pages! plus it is heavy as hell.
I looked for my headphones and finally covered my ears in a an act to escape reality with my favorite band in replay.
I slowly felt the beat and started reading. Listening to musing while studying helps me focus and I do not even know why. I have 2 hours before the test. I just hope I pass this one because I do not want to flunk my subjects.
I immersed myself in reading when I felt goosebumps on my neck and body. I immediately raised my head. It feels like somebody was looking at me with an intent to kill. I didnt know why but I felt scared and if I were standing, I could feel my legs shaking and falling off the ground. I scanned the room and saw people minding their own business, no one was watching me, but it felt like there was. I took off my headphones.
I calmed myself down and took a deep breath.
"Hi!" A familiar voice popped out of nowhere startled me. I jumped on my seat.
"Sheeshh, you ok? you look like you've seen a ghost!" she said as she sat on the vacant chair infront of me.
"Oh its you, sorry just not feeling well I guess. Exams makes me nervous," I answered.
might be the only logical reason why I feel so nervous right now.
"Right?! tell me about it. I hate exams!" she said as she rolled her eyes.
It is Cassandra the woman I met earlier and my new neighbor. I shrugged the thought of weirdness off my mind.
"Hows your first day treating you? kind of too late to be transferring schools." I said. it is almost half of the semester. I wonder how she got in, this school is strict... from what ive heard.
"Well, I wanted a new environment. My family is powerful-- to sum it up." she said as if it was nothing.
I guess she is from a super rich family that has control over this school if that is the case. I paid no mind to what she said, rich kids go to school here, I mean... this university is a dollar school for a reason. I closed the textbook I was reading. I need a short break.
"Want coffee?" I asked Cassandra and stood from my seat. She nodded and stood up.
"Sure, where can we get a decent cup of coffee here?" she spoke as she played with her curls.
"Right there," I said and pointed the edge of the library where the coffee shop is. Her mouth gaped open .
"Ohh... okay," she answered as if she was second guessing.
"A penny for your thoughts?" I spoke since she looked like she was in a daze.
"Oh, yeah its fine, if it tastes good." she then walked first and I followed her instead. Her heels were making sounds as she walks, well as she fashioned her way through the library with all eyes on her. I cant deny but she is really pretty. Those hazel eyes, brown perfected curls, not to mention her head to toe luxury brand items and clothing. It just screams, sophisticated, rich and powerful.
After that she accompanied me while I was studying and went separate ways after she walked me to my room. It seemed weird that she didnt want to meet someone in her year level and just stuck by me. Although, it was not bad at all. She is quite friendly but a little bit weird.
How come this gorgeous girl is following me all day? - I thought to myself.
It doesn’t seem she is lost or in need of help finding her room. She seemed smart and witty but she is tactless. She speaks whatever comes to mind without a second thought!
“Thank you for accompanying me Cass,” I thanked her before entering our classroom.
“Sure, gotta go.” She said and bid me goodbye.
I looked down and reached for my phone to give her my number when all of a sudden a s***h of wind seemed to pass by me. I looked up, only to see Cass was no longer in front of me. I looked at the hallway but it was empty.
My forehead creased. How did she disappear so quickly? I only looked down for a few seconds. She couldn’t have ran to the lobby, its a long hallway and I could’ve heard her heels clanging on the cemented floor.
“Hey Aubrey, you okay?” I heard a voice behind me. It was Charles, my Bio classmate.
“Uh yeah…” I answered while still confused.
He closed the door behind him and spoke, “You should get inside, our classmates are handing down our activity sheets before we have our exam today.”
I nodded at his remark. And opened the door to the room.
“Thanks,” I spoke before closing the door behind me.
I sat in the middle part of the classroom and looked at the paper on my table with our activity for today.
My jaw dropped to see how long this activity is and we are only given an hour to finish before our exam.
I unconsciously grabbed my hair in frustration and I looked up, only to see similar reactions from my classmates.
I so hate this teacher.
The activity and exam kept me away from wondering and curious thoughts as it occupied me for the rest of the day.
I just hope I pass this day to move on for the next.
