Chapter 11

Wanes POV:

"Find it, and bring it to me!" I shouted in anger, my voice echoing the dark, empty hallways.

I just found out that something bad is about to happen and its all my fault. I should have never shown my face to her. Now, all our enemies are targeting her because they know she is my weakness... my kryptonite.

"Yes sire!" Anthony, my servant answered.

he was about to walk out of my chamber when I stopped him.

"Wait, pack my things. I am going out there myself," I spoke with authority. I made up my mind. They will not leave her alone unless shes dead. And I will never let that happen.

"But sire, the King won't allow th---" I cut him off.

"Are you defying my order?! Pack my belongings!" I said angrily, my eyes turning bloodshot. I can feel as if my veins are about to pop out of my head from anger

I know my dad will not allow me to leave the palace, much less leave our world and stay with the humans. My duty as the Crown Prince depicts me from doing whatever I please and yet, the system is a failure. I cannot focus my mind unless Aubrey is safe. I will bring her into this world if I have to.

“Yes sire,” he answered, bowing his head.

“Find that monster who keeps creeping into Aubrey’s life. I need it alive.” I said before dismissing him. With that he finally disappeared into thin air.

I bet its the same monster who almost attacked Aubrey. I don’t know what I would do if I wasn’t there to protect her that night.

Flashback …

I was looking at her from the high story building when I felt a presence from afar that was unsettling. Somehow I felt scared. It wasn’t the same as the monsters I encountered before.

I heightened more of my senses to feel where these monsters are because if there is, I need to find out why they are in the human world or they might be hunting. We cannot let such creatures run amok or they will be the reason that supernatural beings will become known. It will disturb the balance.

I was finding the source when I suddenly smelled blood. It was familiar, the addicting, fragrant blood from years ago… I snapped out of my thought.

“Aubrey…” I whispered through the wind. In a flash I moved from one building to the next, getting lower to the ground as fast as I can when I felt again that unsettling presence. I ran as fast as I could to reach Aubrey when I felt someone rushing towards me with intent to kill so I dodged and kept on moving forward yet it kept up with me. It moved swiftly. It was somehow faster than me so I stopped on my tracks and faced the enemy. I heard heavy footsteps growing near me. It was dark but as soon as it stepped into the light from the building across, I saw its form.

It is not a human, but a monster. A large creature with sharp claws, it resembled a bizarre, deformed, otherworldly and it seemed like a mutated animal. It was on its fours and looking intently at me like I am some food.

In a swift move it jumped on me and swung its claws like it was ordered to attack anything it sees. I managed to dodge despite being confused. I have never seen this bizarre creature before.

It strikes again giving me no chance to escape.

Damn it! I need to check on Aubrey!

I tried to attack it but it dodged me right away. It looked at me as if it was learning or was thinking. I could not decipher what it was doing.

“AAAAHHH!” I heard. It was Aubrey.

My mind shifted to desperate and anger from this creature. I controlled my breathing and in one move, I had its hearts on my hand. Blood spilled from the creatures body. I threw the organ away and swiftly went to Aubrey.

I saw her closing her eyes, looking so scared. There were two other creatures, the sale as the one that tried to attack me. Nevertheless, I attacked them without a second thought. I found Aubrey injured and fainted on the ground.

End of flashback…

I erased her memories from that night. I didnt want her to remember such gruesome event.

I know somebody is controlling those monsters. They looking like they were saplings and just learning how to hunt. Somebody out there is making these creatures, or to better describe it, breeding monsters.

I have reported this to the council and they took action right away. The secret about the supernatural world should never be out in the open. The council is one of the people who takes charge with the peace, treaty and secrets.

If you are one of the people who will likely endanger the lives of supernaturals or more on us, Vampire’s… you are to be discarded. Meaning, death punishment.

A stake to the heart or burned to the stake, you get to choose how you die but mostly the elders and the council choose your fate. They hold as much power as us, royals.

“Sire,”

Someone approached me as I was walking down the hallway.

“The queen requests your presence at the garden,” the servant said.

“Is this urgent? I have other matters to attend to,” I said.

“She also said to tell you that she will tell the king about your plans, journeying the outside realm.” And with that, I turned to face the servant girl.

“Announce my coming,” I answered and followed her.

“Mother,” I said between breaths.

The queen holds the power to see the future. I guess she already knew my plan, before I even planned it!

I sigh in frustration as I continued to walk my way to the garden.
