Chapter 18

Continuation

James POV:

The day was hot and good thing I chose here as our meet up place. She always loved this place that is why I love it here too. I can see happiness in her eyes just by looking at her favorite.

I watched her eat our favorite dessert like a child. She was so happy with that I ordered. Ever since me and Aubrey were little, we were inseparable! We both love the same food, good taste if I may say so... I know she isn't really convinced with my excuse but I could not tell her. It would break of our friendship and I cannot have that. She is the closest person to me aside from my mother.

My phone started ringing but I did not mind it. I know who is calling. Aubrey looked at me confused with her eybrow raised.

"I do not want to answer this person." I said and grabbed my shake and started sipping. letting my phone ring for a while.

"Well, it has been ringing for a while now and your ringtone sucks." She commented and continued to feast on the dessert.

"Hey! no hate with my ringtone!" I said.

My ringtone was actually a sound from a shark movie. you know, when the predator is close to his prey the sound the movie makes like... darum, darum, darum... Something like that-- ugh fine okay, it's lame but it doesn't suck!

I glanced at the caller ID one last time and it sure was the annoying person I have been avoiding before completely turning off my phone. My Girlfriend--Or so she thinks. I never really liked Kristen but she was a bugger in my life that kept sticking by me and eventually, people at school thought we are dating... in which we are not.

I shoved my phone in my pocket and focused on the girl in front of me. I have always thought of Aubrey as a little sister and nothing more. Growing up together, I always saw myself as the big brother to this girl who is eating like a child.

‘’ Why are you eating like a child?’’ I commented and chuckled.

‘’What?’’ she asked confused but still continuing to munch on the cake.

‘’Your nose has icing on it. Definitely not going to wipe it for you.’’ I said. Her face turned smug as she rolled her eyes at me.

‘’As if I am letting you touch my face too!’’ she answered.

She grabbed the tissue in front of her and eyeing me like she’s in disgust. She wiped her nose and set the used tissue aside, took a sip of her shake and looked at me.

‘’What?’’ I spoke.

‘’Nothing. Why are you avoiding your girlfriend’s calls?’’ she asked.

‘’I am not,’’ I answered. The question did not come as a surprise to me but I was already anticipating it. Aubrey is the type of person who acts like she doesn’t care or not curious but in reality, she is always dying to know the ‘Juicy drama’s’.

‘’Oh please, I am not born yesterday. Plus she makes my life a living hell! Do you even know what I have been through because of your Gf?’’ she started.

‘’Oh please do enlighten me.’’ I answered chuckling. I get amused with my bestfriend every single time! It is quite fun to tease her.

‘’There was this one time when I went to the bathroom and she was bugging me the whole day asking for you! Like seriously, can I not have some peace for a second? I was litteraly in the comfort room, doing my own business and she just kept talking, going on and on and on!’’ she ranted with her face practically red. Probably from remmebering that moment.

I know she hates Kristen. Well, I know they do not like each other. But sometimes it is just fun teasing her. But I will not let Kristen hurt her or anything like that.

I let out a laugh, seeing her this pissed... always make my day!

‘’It is not funny James.’’ She spoke, her cheeks still red as ever.

‘’Alright, alright... I get it, I’m sorry.’’ I said and raised my arms as a surrender.

Instead of answering she just rolled her eyes at me.

‘’Did you know she even-‘’

Something caught my peripheral vision. It felt weird and it felt like someone was watching us.

‘’hey!’’ I heard Aubrey spoke as she waved her hand infront of me to catch my attention.

‘’Were you even listening?’’ she said.

‘’What? Oh—yeah, sorry about that.’’ I said as soon as I noticed I was out of it for a second.

‘’Are you okay? Do you want to go now?’’ she asked. Her expression changed and she looked worried.

‘’Yeah, probably. We can still catch up next time.’’ I said.

‘’ Ofcourse. I mean we are nopt going anywhere time soon. We are stuck in this place for a little while longer.’’ She commented. I kbow what she meanty. When we were kids we always planned on moving out of this place and moving away. We do have fond and fun memories here but a lot has changed. It felt somehow, suffocating.

‘’Yeah. Shall we?’’ I asked her as I stood up. She fixed her things and grabbed her sling bag and stood up.

We waited for our cab since I did not drive today. I dropped Aubrey first in her condo.

‘’Bye! See you at school,’’ She said and waived goodbye as shew entered the building.

I just smiled at her waved back. At the same time, I turned my phone on and messages came flooding in. One particular text caught my attention. I could feel tension on my body and my jaw tightening from anger.

It is almost time...

everything is almost set.

Time will come when I can finally tell Aubrey everthing.
