The Competition ( Part Three )

Ariana's P O V :

My dad hugged me as soon as I stepped out of the battleground. His eyes were filled with nothing but pride and watching my father like this was worth every bit of the hard training. I was immediately escorted to the medical camp. The on-duty nurse treated my wounds and gave me some ice packs for the soreness and pain. Since only one match was left, I decided to skip it and headed towards my room. Even after my refusal, mom kept applying different kinds of healing potions to my body and I closed my eyes welcoming the slumber.

The next morning, I woke up feeling nothing but nervous about the last phase of the competition. The third phase was the most difficult one and I did not know if I could survive it. Nonetheless, I finished all my morning routines and braced myself for the third phase. I went towards the dining hall and saw my mother along with our pack's beta female.

" Ana " my mom said, and I sat near her. After having my breakfast, I took my blessings from them and went towards the pack ground. Sooner, all the candidates came and all of us stood in a line in front of our third proctor, Luna Calliope Knight.

" Congratulations to everyone of you for successfully making it to the final phase of the competition. All of you must already know what this phase is all about, but if anyone is still unaware, then let me tell you this phase is a lot harder than the first two " she said, and I felt goosebumps in my body. I looked at Cami and she swallowed a gulp of saliva. I roamed my eyes around and saw everyone was somewhat afraid or scared.

" Since there are only eight if you, I will divide you in two groups. Each group will consist of an Alpha, a beta, an omega and a warrior. Both of the teams will have to survive a magical simulation. Remember even though it's just a simulation but you will feel every attack, every injury and pain also. If any member of any teams want to quit in the middle of the simulation just say the words outloud and you will be pulled out. The last team standing with more member will be the winner " She said every word loudly and clearly. We all nodded our head.

" In Team A, Ariana Black Moon, Cami Canon, Jonah Heather and Merlin Maurice " she said and all of us whose name were called took a step further.

" In Team B , Jonathon Lunar, Ino Clearwater, Farris Clyde, Rose Adam " she said announcing the team B.

" Now I suggest you all closed your eyes and when you will open them, you will be in the maze " She said and all of closed our eyes. I heard chanting voices and foreign words and felt the swirl of air around me. Soon the air started swirling a lot faster like a storm brewing and all of us got pulled inside it. Cami screamed loudly and all of us fell with a defeaning thud sound.

I groaned as I opened my eyes. Rest of them stood up.

" Where are we " Jonah, a beta from another pack asked.

" I don't know " I said as I roamed my eyes around looking for a clue but it was hard to find any as the place was dark and we couldn't see properly.

" Man, how can we see anything in this dark, we don't have our wolves yet so we don't have night visions " Merlin graoned.

" Foucus on sounds, we do have a stronger sense of smell and hearing so we can use that " Cami said. Cami belonged to a long line of warrior so it wasn't surprising when she gave us this idea. Warriors were generally more trained to prepare and plan attacks.

" Let's go guys " I said and all of us started walking. We walked a little further and then I heard some whooshing sound like something fast is coming towards us.

" Get down " I yelled loudly and everyone got down. We hear a thud voice of something sticking to the wall and Jonah confirmed it was a knife. Jonah pulled out the knife and made a small cut on his palm. Even though there wasn't no cut but he did feel the pain. As if one cue the whole place was illuminated and we looked around. The walls and the ceilings even the grounds were also black. I saw the knife, even though it wasn't sharp but still it could have wounded us.

" Guys stick together " Cami said and all of us walked side by side. After walking for a very long time we again came a place that felt familiar.

" Ana, don't you think we are just moving round and round " Cami asked. I looked around and surely this particular place felt familiar.

" We have already been here " Jonah Said pointing towards the mark on the wall caused by the knife.

" It's maze then " I thought in my head.

" What should we do then, if we keep just walking we will just wander around without any hopes of getting out from this maze " Merlin said. He had a point. We couldn't just wander around, that would only waste our time and energy. There was no point of splitting up because we couldn't be able to fine each other then. We all stood there thinking of some sort of plant to counter attack.

" Why don't we mark the walls " Cami said.

" What do you mean " Merlin asked.

" We will just mark the walls and each time we go through a different section, we will mark it with different marks, so we will know which way leads to where " cami said.

That's a good plant.

" All right let's do this " I said and Jonah started marking the walls.

About half an hour of walking round and round we finally discovered a door, a door which we didn't take before.

" I just hope this leads to somewhere " Jonah Said groaning and I was feeling the same thing.

" Here goes nothing " I said out loud and opened the door.

" What the f**k " Merlin yelled loudly.

" Is this " Cami asked.

" Yeah I think so " Jonah answered.

" Relax guys, remember all of this is an illusion. As long as I don't disturb whatever the hell it is we will be fine " I said.

" That's a three headed creatures Ana, like some bloody hound from hell. You don't suggest we go through this door, do you " Cami asked, clearly afraid of the beast in front of us.

" Ariana is right. We have to take this way " Jonah Said agreeing with me. All of us looked at each other and went through the door as quietly as possible. The creature was snoring loudly and we could see the salivas dripping from its snout. I heard a crunch sound and looked back only to see Marlin steeping on a twig. s**t ! !

Like I expected even the minimal sound of the twig snapping made the beast open his eyes. He slowly opened his eyes and saw Merlin and Cami right in front of him. A loud , ear splitting howl came from him and right there I knew all of us were screwed.
