The Competition ( Part Two )

Ariana's P O V :

I trained harder yesterday for the second phase of the competition. The second phase is mostly battles between wolves where your physical strength will be measured. After hard training and a nice supper, I slept like a log.

The next morning, I saved all my energy for phase two of the competition. After a healthy breakfast, all of us who passed the written phase gathered on the ground.

" All right, now it's time for the second phase of the competition and for this phase I present you, Mrs. Nina Martin as your proctor " One of the neighboring Alpha whom I Suppose Alpha Damon Said.

A woman looking in her thirties came forward and stood in front of us. So she was the infamous Martin, a royal warrior, sharper than the sword itself, and she had already trained many Alphas. I remembered

how Brother Alvin used to complain about her training.

" As for those who don't know me, I am Nina Martin, an elite warrior. Today, all of the candidates gathered here will be divided into groups of two of the same rank. That is, a beta will be paired up with another beta and an Alpha will be paired up with another Alpha. The pair would continue to fight until one of them admits his or her defeat. Remember this match is only a demonstration of all the dangers you will face out there in the real world. If I thought anyone was fighting with the intent of killing, then I would stop that match right there. Am I clear ? " She said each and every word loudly.

" Yes Ma'am " all of us shouted.

" Good then, I will now call out the pair of names " she said, and started calling out our names. I watched as the betas, gammas and normal wolves stood together as a pair. Only four Alphas remained, including me.

" Ariana Black Moon and Scorpion Moon Light " she called our names and I groaned. Why did I have to be paired up with that dumbass ?

I looked at Scorpion and he winked, looking at me.

Oh God ! !

Nonetheless, we both stood together as a pair.

" You know don't worry, I will go easy on you " he said, smirking.

" He will go easy on me. Doesn't his stupid brain remember what happened the last time ", I thought to myself.

" Don't forget your lessons " I said, smirking, and his eyes widened. I chuckled when he snickered at me. Once everyone was paired up, we were told to be seated. Alphas would be the last one to fight. I watched as they drew a big circle on the ground and the rules were explained again. I looked at Scorpion, all I had to do was either knock him out pretty hard or make him cross the boundary. A series of applause was given before the first battle started. I watched each and every battle carefully, reading their moves and taking mental notes of what made the winner win and what mistakes the loser made to lose. I couldn't lose at any cost, not to this scumbag for sure. We both stood up as our names were called and took our position.

" Don't worry, like I said, I will go easy on you " Scorpion said as he smirked.

" Begin " the proctor said, and I looked at Scorpion.

We both circled each other but I did not want to make a first move. He started throwing punches at me and I was quick enough to dodge them. Soon both of us were throwing punches at each other. I was successfully dodging his punches but I got distracted for a second when I heard my dad's voice cheering loudly for me and Scorpion took that chance. His punch landed right on my face and I was startled.

" Oops " he said, smirking, and I knew all this crappy talk about going easy on me was nothing but a ruse. I quickly gathered myself and again stood up straight holding my position. We both started moving faster than before as we threw punches at each other while trying to dodge.

In between punches, I drooped down lower and swiped my leg so that I could kick his legs, but he jumped over and kicked me in my face. The impact of the kick was so strong that I slid a few feet away from him.

" What's that "

He wasn't that strong when I fought with him recently. There is no way he could have become this strong in a short period of time. I heard the crowds whispering. I looked at my father and saw the same worried look in his eyes. But I wasn't a little girl anymore. I was an Alpa, destined to lead this pack. I spat a handful of blood and saliva and stood up again. I knew I couldn't defeat him in hand to hand combat now so I tried to think of something different. Thanks to Uncle Orion, I did learn something new recently and I knew maybe this skill would bring me my charm. I ran towards him at full speed and before he could anticipate it, I jumped in the air and kicked him in the chest. Once I saw him stagger a bit, I rotated my legs and sat on his shoulders, my legs wrapped around his neck and chest. He started punching my legs in order to free himself from my hold, but with all my power, I flipped us. He landed on his stomach while I was on my knees. I knew this was it, now or never. Even though I was breathing hard and my knees and legs hurt like hell, I crawled towards him. Once I was near him, I gave another stroke on his back, knocking him out cold. I staggered while trying to sit and a small smile formed on my lips when I heard the crowd shouting my name.
