Amelia got so busy at work that she did not even know it was lunch hours until Cullen stood on her office door, she was surprised because when she turned her head she saw him standing at the doorway and she did not have any idea of how long he had been standing there, her highly neat ponytail was in a mess already and her office desk was full of papers all over.

“You should go have some lunch, it is lunch time and your head is still buried on the computer screen.” Cullen said startling her, he been standing there for a while just watching her type on her computer and even though her hair was in a mess, he still found it so sexy and he just could not help but stare at her for a few minutes before he finally decided to make his presence known to her.

“I am…sorry sir, but how long have you been standing there?” she decided to ask.

“Long enough to see you so busy and so serious at work, that suits you because you look more pretty when you that serious.” He said with a smile tugged on his lips and Amelia could not help but think about his compliment.

Wait, did he just compliment me? He called me pretty, maybe it is just a compliment and I shouldn’t think much about it. She said inwardly.

“What are you thinking about?” he asked after he realized that she was not talking, she got lost in her own thoughts.

“Nothing, I was just thinking, I got so buys that I did not even check on my watch, I think I should get going, I had a lunch date, damn how did I even forget about that?” she said loudly and immediately apologized.

“My bad, I am really sorry, I didn’t mean to say that aloud, it might have escaped my mouth, I am so sorry.”

“Clearly but there is no need to apologize, I understand, I was thinking that maybe you should join me for lunch, I am ready go for lunch and Melanie always has it delivered in my office but today I just decided to go out and have lunch, I was thinking you could join me and maybe we can catch up, but since you have a lunch date, I think I will have to respect that, maybe some other time.” He said and that got her thinking.

Maybe that was the only chance she had to get to know her boss and she was not just going to let it slide, despite she wanted to go for lunch with Melanie, she had earlier promised to take her out for lunch, bills on her as part of her welcoming to the company

I might just as well as text Melanie and tell her that I won’t make it and we can schedule it for tomorrow, because I can’t for Christ’s sake miss this opportunity, despite it might sound rude to him so I am just going to accept this maybe one time offer.

She said to herself and then decided to just accept his offer, it was a genuine offer and she was not going to let it slide past her fingers, “It is okay, you know I was going to have lunch with Melanie but I can as well as schedule it tomorrow, she will understand.” She said hoping that’s he did not sound too desperate.

“I thought so too, anyway meet me in the parking lot, don’t stay too long.” He said and closed the door on his way out; Amelia released the long breath she did not know that she was holding unto.

“Damn, why is he making me feel this uncomfortable?” she asked loudly.

“Maybe it is because you like him too.” Melanie said

“For Christ’s sake, you people want to give me a heart attack today, first it was him and now you and you scared the hell out of me seriously.”

“I am sorry about that but I think this is love at the first sight, I have never seen Cullen talk so much about someone before and even go out for lunch with them? That is unlike him, he rarely goes out for lunch and he always has his lunch delivered in his office but today when he walked into my office and asked me if it was okay asking you to accompany him for lunch today, I knew that there is something special with you.” She said and Amelia sighed.

“I don’t want to believe that Melanie, but I just said yes, do you think I sounded desperate?” she asked and Melanie shook her head in denial.

“No, not really in fact I texted you and told you to say yes, I thought you read the message?”

“No, but I just said yes and he asked me not to take long, I think I should fix my hair and meet him in the parking lot as he asked.” She said as she reached for her handbag and took out a hair brush, Melanie helped her brush it and tied it in a high pony tail.

“I think you are now good to go, come on don’t waste any more time, I can’t wait to see the look on Virginia face when she sees you together, it is just that Cullen is not always free with ladies but you two would make such a cute and a lovely couple, he is always going for perfection maybe that is why he is still single, off you go, I don’t want to keep you here for long.” She said as the two walked out of Amelia’s office and headed for the elevator, Amelia was feeling happy but she did not just want to show it.

“Thank you Melanie, wish me luck.” She said as she walked to the VIP parking lot where Cullen was waiting for her inside the car, it was a beautiful blue Sedan, looked classy from the outside.

“I was starting to think that you changed your mind, you know I don’t want you to feel like I am forcing you into anything you wouldn’t want to do, I just thought that maybe you two could get lunch together and maybe hang out, talk more, it has been ages since I last saw you on your graduation day in senior high school and I think your sister forgot to mention that you have grown more beautiful than I last saw you.” Cullen said when Amelia got into the car and sat next to him but with a measurable space between the two, she was still feeling uneasy around him.

“No, not really, I just wanted to come and you are not forcing me into doing anything, thank you for the complement once again, by the way I had totally forget about you, you know I haven’t seen you around since my sister’s wedding, I don’t think you saw me on that day but I saw you.” She said trying to not make it look more awkward than it already was, she was in the backseat of her boss’s car and they were heading out for lunch on her first day at work, she texted Emma about it and she called immediately.

“You should pick that call; you have been ignoring it for like three times and it might be important you never know, you don’t have to feel uncomfortable, we are no longer in the office and you are free to talk on your phone, don’t let my presence make you feel uneasy.” He said when he noticed that she was not picking her calls.

“No, it is okay, I will call her after here, she is my flat mate and she just wants to tell me something not so important you know we girls can be.” She said.

“Yes sure, just don’t ignore calls; some might turn out to be urgent and important.” He said as the driver stopped the car in front of the most expensive hotel in town, immediately Amelia froze, she had never been to such a big hotel before and she suddenly felt uneasy, she did not even know what to order or if she could afford to pay for a single meal at the hotel.

“Are you sure, this is the right place?” she decided to ask after both of them had stepped out; Cullen opened the door for her. Such a gentleman!

“Yes, I know what you are thinking but don’t worry, I booked us a VIP section there will be no one except us so no need to worry, here give me your hand, I will walk you in.” he said as he stretched his arm for her and Amelia took it, they walked in while holding hands and you would think that the two were a couple already.

They got into the hotel and were directed to where Cullen wanted, it was a VIP section that overlooked the city, it was just a table for the two of them and no one else was inside, he ordered two glasses of juice as they still thought of what to order for lunch.

Amelia ordered Philly cheesesteak with French fries while Cullen decided to go with buffalo chicken wings with potato chips, while they were midway into eating, he decided to talk to her about why he actually wanted them to go out for lunch, he needed to propose something to her and he was not sure if she was going to at all accept his offer, the moment he saw Amelia at the reception, her looks stroke like the looks he would go for, sure he was always into brunettes and he was sure if he could talk to his mom about her, she was going to approve so all he had to do was convince Amelia to accept his plan and help him.

“You know actually the reason why I wanted us to have this lunch her today, is because I wanted to talk to you Amelia, it is something very important to me and I would urge you just listen to me without interrupting and once I am done you can ask any question you want to ask.” He said and that got her attention, her heartbeat was racing fast and to say that she was nervous was an understatement, she only hoped that it was nothing bad.

“Okay sure go ahead, I can’t promise I will do it but the least I can do is listen.” She said as she sipped her juice and then turned all her attention to him.
