I have to admit I fell in love with the sapphire ring the second I saw it. It seemed to stand out against all of the others. It was stunning. I loved how it looked on my finger as well. It was my perfect ring.
It was also a bittersweet feeling I had about it. It is something I would love to be given by the person I loved above all others, but that wasn’t the reality of my situation. It was for show from someone I didn’t love and wasn’t even sure if I liked.
When the lady told me the meaning of sapphires, which I already knew from working with precious stones, I almost snorted a laugh out. Santiago managed to draw her attention away from me, thankfully. We couldn’t have her knowing it was all fake and risk the bad press.
