Chapter Three: Don't leave me
“Don’t leave me! Please! Don’t leave me!”
"Elora. Elora. Are you ok, my dear?" I woke to someone shaking the s**t out of me. Sitting up in the strange bed and taking in my surroundings. I must have had a bad dream again. They were getting frequent now. They never made any sense. The person leaving me was a blur. I had no idea who or where it was.
Feeling embarrassed at the hunk standing over me with such concern, I hid my face childishly under the soft white pillows. I groan out loud and wish I was not in this situation.
"Shh, my sweet baby, you're safe now, You were so exhausted, you have been sleeping for a while." He pulled me into his chest and kissed my forehead. I closed my eyes and breathed in his strong aroma. Was I still dreaming?
“Alpha Kai, I am sorry. I don’t know what happened!” I stuttered.
He smirked and licked his lips. “You don’t remember falling asleep in my arms after we kissed many times last night, huh?” An amused look on his face told me he was teasing me.
Thoughts of my old pack house popped into my head, filling me with guilt.
"Please. I need to go," I mumbled, trying not to make contact with his eyes. God, I wish I could lose myself in him and forget everything.
"No, you don’t need to go anywhere. This is your home now." He held my hand in his and gently squeezed it. Sending shivers up and down my spine. This guy had me melting inside.
"But my pack. They will be worried." I could tell he sensed the sadness in my voice because he suddenly let go of me and sighed heavily. I frowned, unsure what to do about this strange situation.
"Look, please do not worry. That place is not a good place to be! Soon you will understand. You are safe with me. That's all that matters. This is your home now, and I want you to feel happy with me," he said. I listened to his words and felt myself snuggle closer to his chest. I had no idea why i felt such a strong connedtion to this male when I but I did feel safe with him by my side. I had never had this feeling before.
"I have some important work to attend to. Please don't worry about anything. Miss Rachel will be here to look after you." He exited the bed and smiled back at me as a skinny-looking girl entered the room. I noticed she had a big smile on her face. She was pretty, with blue eyes and long brunette curly hair that hung down loosely. She was wearing a denim dress and sandals.
"Good morning, Alpha and Luna. I'm so pleased to meet you, and welcome to the crazy house." She grinned, and I noticed how he smiled back at her in amusement. He gave me a little squeeze before leaving the room.
"I'm Rachel, the sister of the beta Daniel. If there is anything you need, please let me know. I'd be happy to help." She held out her hand to me as she introduced herself.
“I will see you shortly,” he waved at me and I watched as the Alpha left without another word, leaving Rachel and me alone.
“So, how are you feeling? Alpha Kai was so happy when he told us he found you.” she clapped her hands cheerfully and I eyed her suspiciously. “Can I help you with anything? Maybe a walk? A shower? I can help you pick out some nice clothes.” she suggested.
"You could help me with something." I burst out as an idea crept into my mind. I had to try and get back to Alpha Isaac, the last thing I wanted was him harming anyone here for protecting me.
“How do i reach out to someone in my pack?”
She looked very intrigued, but then the smile was quickly replaced with a look of uncertainty.
"Have you considered linking with them? That's what I do if I ever need to reach Alpha kai or Daniel, " she said.
If only it were that easy.
Mindlink was not something I had ever been able to do in my pack. For as long as I can remember, it's not something the moon goddess had gifted me with.
"Mind link isn't something I ever got the hang of," I admitted sheepishly. Many girls in the old pack would get pleasure from my lack of abilities. I winced at the memory of their nasty words. But something about Rachel was different. She seemed genuine and caring. I wasn't used to that, but it was nice to have someone to talk to who wasn't intent on making a mockery of my existence.
"Come on, let's go grab a milkshake. A few of the others are already in the kitchen."
She held out her hand and led me to the kitchen down a corridor and a beautiful red carpeted stairwell. On our way we were greeted by other members of this pack, they were all friendly and welcoming towards me. Rachel explained that everyone was excited to have me here and that the alpha insisted they all make me feel welcome. As soon as we entered the kitchen i was amazed at how perfectly it shone. I wondered if alpha kai were as strict with this pack like alpha isaac was with blue mountain.
I automatically noticed a girl by the sink glaring at me with her arms crossed over her chest. I assumed she was another omega and thought she would look quite pretty if she smiled and did something with her messy hair. She looked about my age, maybe a year or two younger. But something about her made me feel uncomfortable.
Rachel excitedly introduced me to them. "Hello Luna, my name is Natasha! " one of the girls exclaimed. I could see she was bursting with excitement to speak to me, but I didn't understand why, as I was nothing special. She seemed nice as she went around the room, telling me who everyone was—until she came to the girl who had been throwing me dagger glares.
She scowled and stared at the floor.
I found this very disrespectful behaviour towards someone apparently meant to be their future Luna.
"Is this how you treat your future, Luna? Perhaps the Alpha will have something to say about this."rachel warned the girl. The room fell silent as the girl hung her head in shame.
Rachel interrupted the awkward silence by suggesting a walk outside for some fresh air. I agreed, and off we went. The rain had stopped, and the sun had finally made an appearance. Birds sang away in the trees, and children played happily around us.
I listened as Rachel explained the girl, who was called Gina, had been an orphan from a pack that had been destroyed in a nasty attack years ago. The old Alpha of this pack had allowed her to join this pack. She was only four years old at the time and the only survivor.
Although Rachel did not think it excused her behaviour, I was more sympathetic to her situation. She had been through a tough time, and something about it seemed familiar.
We talked some more and found out we had a lot in common. Both loved music and dance. I had a good feeling that Rachel and I would be great friends.
Suddenly, Rachel stopped in her tracks, and the colour drained from her face. " We have to go back inside now. “She grabbed my hand and gestured for the others around us to follow. Then, a loud alarm sounded, that was deafening.
