Chapter 13

The torturing room door pushed open, and a maid dressed in a blue uniform walked into the silent hall, approaching the table that Henry gestured to for her to drop the meal.

Camila was nervous as she wondered what Henry was up to.

She watched him walk over to the meal that was covered and kept on a tray. He opened the meal cover and sniffed it; the food looked so delicious and different from the bread and water she had been served the previous day.

Camila wondered, "Where did they get this delicious food from? Is it because he's the Alpha, and they pretended to serve this palatable meal here?"

Camila was so lost in her thoughts that she didn’t hear what Henry said to her.

Henry walked up to meet her and asked, "What are you thinking about? Didn’t you hear what I just asked you?"

Camila's cheeks flamed red as she blushed and was unable to reply.

"Go and eat your meal. I will send the guards to get you after you’re finished eating, and you will be brought to the mansion to work there as our servant. Be mindful of your words—don't dare to provoke my sisters or anyone from our pack. And don’t think that I like you or that I will support you and treat you nicely. As for your punishment for strangling that innocent lady, we will discuss that later. Do you understand? Now go and eat your food."

Henry stood aside as he watched Camila rise from the torturing chair. She walked to the table where her meal was served and sat in the chair closest to it.

Camila picked up the spoon and started eating. She wanted to ask Henry why the metals were still around her wrists, but she kept quiet and focused on finishing the delicious meal.

Henry watched as Camila ate hungrily as if she had been starved for days. He finally exited the hall to continue with the rest of his Alpha duties.

Later, Camila was summoned to the Alpha's mansion. Alpha Collins Dominic was present in the grand hall, but he did not call for Camila.

She was taken to a new room located at the back of the mansion, and Camila was nervous, as she had not expected to be given a bedroom of her own in the luxurious mansion.

She understood the responsibilities of being the leader of a pack and thought that Henry was nice to her and a good leader.

Soon, Camila was summoned outside to the premises and introduced to the head maid of the mansion, Lady Anna.

Lady Anna introduced the other four maids to Camila, explaining that the Alpha of the Western Wood Pack rarely accepted foreigners working with them.

Camila was the only foreigner among the five maids.

She heard Lady Anna say, "Here are Rose, Lola, Esther, and Ella. They are all from here, the Western Wood Pack, as you can see their pack tattoos on their foreheads and arms, symbolizing their loyalty to our Alpha. You are a stranger and will be closely monitored by our Alpha. You are to be beneath Ella, Esther, Lola, and Rose, and don’t dare think you are equal to them. Respect them, and you will live peacefully with us. Disrespect them, and you will be mercilessly flogged."

Camila gulped.

"Also, you are to wake up very early in the morning and tidy up the house, trim the flower plants to their normal heights, assist in washing the dirty linens, clean the tiled floors, and tend to the Alpha's rooms, as well as the Luna's and her daughter's rooms."

"All other duties you will be assigned will be listed for you later, so you don’t make any mistakes. If you like, you can also check the blackboard in the maid's quarters to know your responsibilities here. Being pregnant doesn’t make a difference, and you are expected to follow our protocols amicably."

Camila watched as Lady Anna spoke. Lady Anna, a 49-year-old woman who was unmated and still single, had been serving in the Alpha's mansion for a long time.

She pledged her loyalty to serve the Alpha of the Western Wood Pack all her life, and the same was true for the four young maids.

They weren't stopped from mating with whoever they found pleasing. However, Lady Anna wasn’t interested in mating with any mature males in their pack, as she believed in holiness and finding the right partner—even if that partner wasn’t her mate. The same could not be said for the other four ladies staring at Camila irritably.

They planned to make Camila's life a living hell in the maid's quarters, as Camila was beautiful and her fair skin irritated most of the young ladies in the Western Wood Pack, since most of the pack's females were black or brown-skinned.

Camila was finally dismissed from the hall of the maid's quarters. Since she had just arrived, she was given a day to rest and study her duties in the mansion.

Camila went back into her room; the maid's quarters were located at the back of the luxurious mansion.

Camila stared around her small room. She hadn’t come with anything to the Western Wood Pack—not even a bag of clothes—and was only given two maid uniforms, which were still blue in color. She sighed and went to take her bath.

The metals were still strapped around her wrists, and Camila tried to unlock them with her hairpin, but the metals refused to budge.

After her bath, she stepped out to review her duties in cleaning the Alpha Collins’ mansion, as she did not want to be punished.

In the evening, Alpha Collins summoned Henry to the grand hall and spoke to him about launching an attack on the Eastern Wood Pack territory to claim the lands and unite as one.

Henry frowned, as he didn’t like the idea. He knew his father was excited because Camila was truly the daughter of the Eastern Wood Pack's Alpha.

Henry realized they had imprisoned Camila, and with the Alpha of the Eastern Wood Pack already getting old, Alpha Collins felt that Alpha Jackson White could not father another child. So he said to Henry, "Son, we need to strike now and seize all their lands. I have always wanted to be the Supreme Leader and have all other packs bow to me."

Henry remained silent as he saw his father happily drinking. He replied, "I don't think that's a good idea, Father. The Eastern Wood Pack is very strong and may possess some dangerous powers that we aren’t aware of. We cannot strike them to claim their lands, as it doesn’t reflect well on us."

"Shut up, Henry. You don’t know anything about power, and if you did, you wouldn’t oppose what I have said. I am not inviting you on this quest; I will send most of our strongest armies. If necessary, I can go with them to launch the attack. I need Alpha Jackson White down, and with his daughter here with us, we can do whatever we want with her. If it weren't for the fact that she’s pregnant, she’s a weakling and the reason her father sent her away. Don’t worry, Henry; you will be proud of me."

Alpha Collins smiled at Henry, but Henry's frown deepened, as he didn't like what his father was planning.

Henry later went to have his dinner with his mother and sisters, as the full wolf moon festival was approaching. He also needed to find a mate and fully take over the Alpha position from his father, but he hadn’t yet found the woman who moved his heart—except for the new foreigner, who was the Alpha's daughter of the Eastern Wood Pack.
