CHAPTER FOURTEEN

1004 Words
-YURI HANNA- As soon as I awoke the next morning, I checked my wounds in the bathroom mirror and exhaled in relief when I learned they were already healed. One of the advantages of being a werewolf shifter is that we recover faster than humans. Nonetheless, the prince played a significant role in why the conflict last night ended in our favor. No one was seriously injured, and we arrested the vast majority of the rogues. With a big sigh, I opened the sink faucet and cleaned my face while still deep in thought. Not only was I taken aback when Prince Killah unexpectedly emerged in the middle of the combat. I was certain I left him asleep in his room after he spoke ridiculous things to me last night. Was he merely pretending to be inebriated, or did he have a sleep-walking habit? Was he rational when he told me that 'I'm his?' "Oh, for Pete's sake!" I grumbled aloud. "How come I'm letting that wimp's word affect me?" "I'm not even interested in the opposite sex." Shaking my head, I decided to take a refreshing bath to clear my mind, but I was mistaken because when I closed my eyes, I pictured the prince's attractive face. All I could think of was our enticing proximity under the willow tree and the words he spoke in my ear. 'f*****g crap!' I punched my fist against the wall in disbelief, snapping my eyes open. What the heck is going on with me? Did I fall prey to the royal blood weirdo's spell? "No!" I rasped, attempting to shake off all the gibberish in my head. When I was obliged to take the task of protecting the Wolf Prince, I intended to take a vacation after the western conflict ended. To visit a tropical country and spend time relaxing on the beach. For over five years, I have been the Bloody Paws pack's beta. I never neglected my responsibilities as Alva Kenta Reese's second in command. That is why I deserved to decompress and spend a bit of time alone, away from the other bearers of the legendary wolves, who sapped my energy and patience most of the time. If I want my plan to pay off and avoid having my head severed, I must remain focused and not be misled by Prince Killah's meaningless teasing. That was my thought after I finished showering, changed my clothing, and headed downstairs to search for Raffa Greyson. I dashed into the living room, where I discovered not only the alpha, but also the beta of White Fang, Lyme Peterson. My brows furrowed. If the pack's second in command has arrived, that implies his alpha and Luna are as well, and I was correct because as someone tapped my shoulder and I turned around, a hand snatched my throat. Before I was able to react. I was launched into the air and slammed into a nearby massive house pillar. "Damn it! What's the matter with you, b***h?" I yelled at Akira Rivas Kenta, who had me pinned to the circular framework like a paper doll. The Luna of White Fang sneered wickedly. "Look, sweetheart," she addressed her husband behind her back. "Here is the beta of Bloody Paws who became famous overnight for abducting the prince of the west." "What!" Confounded, I turned to Raffa Greyson, who winced and threw me a regretful look, revealing that he was still not notifying the other pack about what had happened. "Luna Aki, please let her go. It's a misunderstanding," Blue Moon's alpha intervened. Aki chuckled and glanced at Raffa before saying, "Do you know how much this criminal's head is worth, Alpha Raffa, or do you only want the bounty for yourself?" "What bounty you are talking about, you witch!" Shin came in the doorway with Prince Killah, who appeared to have just awoken and was perplexed by what was going on. The Luna of Blue Moon dashed over to her cousin and leaped on her back. "Did I overhear you insulting my husband?" You're a true monster!" Shin nipped Aki's ear, but the Luna of White Fang did not even flinch. 'Crap!' I grumbled in the back of my mind. Being Erra's vessel made her stronger than any other werewolf. I recall how difficult it was for me to shackle her when she lost control of her beast during the previous conflict against the eastern rogue and Dallas. It was a horrible nightmare that I hoped would never happen again. "Shin, get off my back. All you're doing is giving me the impression that this pack is also involved in this kidnapping," Akira sneered, her eyes narrowing. "I did not kidnap anyone, Luna Aki. Will you put me down, or I will charge you another million for the money you owe Bloody Paws!" In the midst of my battle in her hard grip, I warned her. In my imagination, I was already skinning alive the creature who dreamed up that story. Seriously, my acquaintances assaulted me because I was so beautifully framed. "You still have the guts to threaten me after committing an offense to the royal family!" Akira's nose flared, and her entire body turned a deep scarlet, indicating that she was furious. My mouth parted as I tried to argue with her, but her fist rose as quickly as her mood swings, about to deliver a heavy hit to my face, when someone as rapid as the wind snatched me from the volatile Luna's hold. Shin was tossed at Raffa, who caught her right away, while Aleca moved in front of his Luna in a protective manner, bellowing and increasing tension in the air. Prince Killah, on the other hand, who had saved me from the attack for the second time since last night, assisted me to my feet before grabbing my waist and pulling me closer to him. "Forgive my intrusion, but I cannot seem to endure watching my bodyguard being bullied in front of me."
