Hidden Wings

chapter eleven

"I can't do it!" I shout in frustration as I tried for the 20th time to make the wind blow. I was supposed to just clear my head and "feel" the air shifted around me, but it hasn't changed at all.

"It's fine just calm down, I told you it'll take a while to be able to use your powers the potion that you were drinking was very strong so you might not be able to use all of your strength yet." Grandmother tries to reassure me again.

"It's been three hours I should be able to do something!" I huff balling my hands together trying to calm down, but I feel so angry. I dig my nails deeper into my palms and then the ground next to me curls into itself like someone was scooping it but stopped halfway so there's half of the grass left.

"See you did something now undo it I like my lawn net." She says one hand on her hip the other she is fixing a tree root that got in the crossfire of my anger just now. "Breathe." She said. I take a deep breath and relaxed my hands picturing the ground flat like it was before I was angry. After a few minutes it was back to how it was.

"I fixed it!" I smiles as I looked up at Adela, she smiles back at me. "Adela can we take a break?"

"Of course." She says with a smaller smile. "This way." She waves her hand to follow her. She and I start walking to a side door of the castle then up a flight of stairs to a quite all window room. I go to the middle window wall that looks out to the town it is beautiful there is two small hills distances. The town was practical shining but not like the places on the earth where the shining is from all the light pollution it was just a healthy glow from the amazing flowers that are here they are like the plants from the movie Avatar but not a blue tint more of soft white Adela says it becomes more of a soft pink and purple at night because of the moons. The green grass so green the trees so tall and scatter it was like looking at a picture. The trees are everywhere around, and, in the city, it was like they were living in them it's like the paradise I would always see in my books and dreams. This place is amazing just, just so amazing.

"Would you like some tea?" I look back at Adela who was talking to a person at the main door.

"Yes please." She turns to the person at the door who I couldn't see nor could they see me. I turn back looking at the sky it was looking at a consent sunset with magical colors with pinks, oranges, and yellow all fading in and out from the sun. I hear the clicking of her heels on the tile walking my way I can feel her heat radiating from her body.

"How do you make that stop?" She stops next to and looked confused then realizing what I meant.

"You have to build up to that you haven't got to reach that time for a shield give it about three days into our training your powers should be fully restored." I nod.

"What is it anyways?" I take a quick glance at her than back at the scenery. She looks as well.

"It's a way to show ranking back in the old years before there was a system, now it's just annoying so we have been able to learn and teach how to shield from feeling and giving off the heat at a very young age." I was going to say something but there was a knock at the door Adela goes to get it.

"What would you like with your tea?" She asked as she sets the tray on the table that is in the middle of the room.

"Three sugars and cream please." I answer as I walk to the table and sit down across from her. I take my tea and thank her.

"Would you like a sandwich?" She motions to the food tray with a sandwich?

"What is it?" I asked looking at the best in my hand.

"It's a strawberry-cream cheese sandwich."

"What's in it?"

"It's cream cheese on slices of date-nut bread and sandwich with sliced strawberries. It's delicious all our fruits are fresher and organic than those on earth." She reassures me with taking a bite of hers. I can smell the strawberry. I take a bite it was so rich and creamy with the strawberry complementing the rich flavor of the cream.

"It's so good." I say after finishing my bite.

"After we finish our tea and sandwiches, we will resume training." She said as she takes a sip of tea. I nod though I really don't want to I'm not good at it but I'm not going to fight her on it I need to learn.

"Ms. Ivey?" I hear my name coming from the door.

"Yea, in here." I answer then take another bite from the sandwich. The door opens to show Alzir who Isaac made tag along.

"Hello, Madam." He bows to Adela who nods in response continuing to eat another sandwich. I also take another sandwich and ask Alzir.

"Would you like one? They're very delicious." I motion to the trays of many sandwiches. He starts to answer no, but Adela speaks first.

"Come, sit, eat with us. Us, women can't eat all of this by ourselves plus I made sure the cooks made extra for you." He nods and sits in a chair to the right of me. "Eat, eat I know my grandson doesn't feed you this good stuff." He takes one and eats it in one bite.

"Wow! You can really put it away." I laugh finishing my third sandwich. He eats another than response,

"I am a big man as you can see and these," He lifts another slice, "Are like human snacks to me." I nod with a smile and take another drink of my tea. "So how has the training been going? Your brother wants me to keep a track of your progress." I sigh putting my cup down.

"Terrible." I mumble staring at the inside of the cup.

"Oh, really? What do you mean." He ask taking a cup and pours tea than drinks half of it down. I shrug.

"I'm no good I can't do anything."

"Not true." Adela voices in, "She was able to dig the ground half up and put it back looking brand new."

"That's great." He commits.

"I didn't mean to do it, I was mad."

"Our power comes from our emotions you have to feel them." I look at him completely confused by his hippy sounding talk; he could tell I was too. He puts his new sandwich down and says, "Image feeling the wind brush against your face with the warm heat from the sun." I sit back and close my eyes thinking about a sunny summer day with a slight breezy. "Now open your eyes." I do so and there is a really breezy in the room. I look at Adela, she smiles at me. I look over at Alzir who also a small smile on his face as has well, I was smiles so big I jump out of my seat and hug the man, I am so happy.

"Looks like you're a better teacher than I am." Adela laugh finishing her tea. After putting all her stuff on the tray, she gets up, "I've decided that you'll be taking my place as teacher Alzir. You are obviously better at it plus I need to make my presents known."

"But madam..." Alzir starts but Adela smile and said,

"Just for the day please, if she ends up learning nothing new than tomorrow, I'll take the classes back over." I look between the two as I finish my tea Adela is smiling and even though Alzir doesn't show it, it's obvious that he is thrilled about the idea yet he doesn't say anything against it just eats the last sandwich and stands up to bow at the queen who in return nods and walks to the door. As the door shuts Alzir looks at me as I set my stuff on the tray like Adela did and stand up. He looks around the room I copy him, it's a plain room in a way there is only the table with the four chairs for furniture the tiles looked marble with almost all the walls floor to ceiling windows except the wall with the door it was a pale pink wall with white trimming and wooden door in each corner of the room were curtains also pink but with a red flowers on it. I look back at him, he just staring everywhere then walks to one of the windows, so I follow.

"It's a bit chilly isn't it?" He says out of nowhere. I shrug a shoulder.

"I guess." He looks at me,

"Think you can make it warmer?" I shrug again "Try, think warmth image it is dancing around you like the sun is giving you a small hug." As he talks, I shut my eyes and image all he said than I feel it the warmth I made myself warmer. I smile and look at Alzir, "Now push the warmth out towards me." I do as he says and slowly have the warmth move to his body, I imagine it being a translucent paint and I'm using a paintbrush to move it towards him I that picture it wrapping itself around barely touching him. I look at him, he nods, "Good job." I smile again, "Let's go outside." I nod.

"So, I just have to picture it to get the powers to work?" I ask while we walk down the stairs. He nods. "It's like art if you have picture already in mind before working you have an outline in your head all you need to do is act on it. Or if you want to make the weather change think of what color you think it is and you can move it or something along those lines." I say making my observations of how to do things.

"That is one way to look at it, yes, how one sees their powers is all on who that person is. For you it seems that imaging your power as utensils to create things like you do for your art works for you. Just so you know when it comes to learning you succubus powers your grandmother will have to help you with controlling it." I nod as he opens the door. We walk to the open field far from the castle because he's worried, I'll destroy the wall. "Make a tiny tornado in your hands." I whipped my head his way to face him with my eyes wide like a deer in headlights.

"Are you nuts I can't do that plus what if I mess up, I could destroy everything!" He almost starts laughing but suppresses it,

"It'll be fine, just do it." I sigh and cup my hands together and picture a pencil drawing a 3D tornado in them making it small. Nothing happens so I take a deep breath and try again but it was only half made when it poof literally it made a 'poof' and was gone like the wind knocked it over. I roll my shoulders and try again but it again it was made halfway then gone. I try a couple of time picturing the same thing over and over again.

'What if it's just the size maybe I'm not making it big enough?' I think to myself, so I try again but this time I image it with more height than the last few times and it works it was a tiny tornado in my hands. I watch it spin in my hands for a few seconds before throwing it into the air before it vanishes. I look over at Alzir who was looking at the sky where the tornado was.

"So how long have you known my brother?" I ask. He looks at me then starts to think.

"Since he was born." He finally answer after a moment of silence.

"How long have you been with this family?" I ask trying to figure out his age.

"I have been with your family since the ending of the Flames War almost a two maybe three millenniums."

"Wow that's a long time." He shrugs,

"Not really. Make the grass grow." I look down and picture the grass around him grow up to his chest I wasn't able to do it, so I look at him with a confused look.

"Sometimes you have to guide nature to manipulate it." I nod and use my pointer finger motioning it upwards thinking about the grass growing all around him to grow up to his chest and it did it was so thick that it was like a wall. I start to laugh because he is so tall that the grass was taller than me. "Now cut it down." He says folding his arms. I try to stop laughing and slowly image the grass shirking with my index finger moving down as well to make a path for the grass to move in.

"I can guess you guys don't use lawn mowers." I say after the grass was even with the rest of the lawn.

"You guess right."

"Tell me more about Ivearona?" I say the name in a question from. He nods,

"Ivearona has been here longer than anyone knows." I shake my head.

"No, about the people and the town, are there any other towns is it anything like the earth do Fea's have their own language?" He motions for me to sit so I do.

"The people are very kind people; we are nothing like humans. We have respect for other and help all those that need."

"Is there a ranking system I mean I know there is Adela is the queen but is there ranking after that like dukes, knights, middle class and lower class." He shakes his head.

"No rankings like that only ruins the peace we have a queen because she is the strongest Fea, yes we have a title for the princes and princesses but that is to show they are related to the queen. As for other we have job names but we are not based on riches because we have no need for money since each fea can grow their own food and is able to sustain themselves but there cases where a fea is too old to use his or hers powers so the queen proves for them."

"What is the normal lifespan?

"About ten millenniums."

"How old is Adela?"

"I'm not really sure I'd say eight millenniums. It's told that because the royal blood is so strong that they outlive most people. As for language yes, we have our own it's called Sogrthi. It's easy to learn. I do know once your powers are fully restored if you wish I can tap into your memory of one of your past teachings and have you remembered it instead of learning it all over again."

"That would be great." I nod and smile as I play with the grass piece I plucked while he started talking about the people. I was making it grow and shrink over and over again. He looks at the sky then says,

"We should get you into the castle I know your grandmother wanted to show you something before you left and it's getting late." I nod and stand up tossing the grass down. We go back to the room Adela was in a really pretty dress her hair was up and make-up done with a crown resting on top of her head.

"Ah, great timing you two." She says as she turns to greet us sort-of. "Ivey did you bring that dress like I asked?" I nod and go to my backpack from the closet the door is one of those secret ones, but I memorized where it was, so I didn't lose my bag. I take my bag and turn around. "Alzir please wait by the doors of the hall of royal, Ivey follow me I'll take you to a bedroom to change." Alzir bows and leaves. We also leave behind him, but he turns right while we turned left. We pass many doors that were on the right side of me while we were walking, I was looking out the windows as we passed them. "Ivey, it this room." She says when she came to a stop and I was about to keep walking. I nod and walked in. The room was a cute light fade pink with trees and flowers on the walls with a king size bed in the middle of the room. I walk over to the windows and close the shades than got into my dress. I put my hair down and messed with it a little as I looked into the mirror after getting it to look somewhat decent, I slip my flats on placing my stuff in the bag I swing it over my shoulder and leave the room.

"You look lovely let's just..." Adela says and does a swift movement of her hand than my hair was in pins with a small crown placed on my head. "Okay good this way." She says continuing down the hall. We walked some way till we reached a double door Alzir was there waiting. Adela nods to him and he opens the door. When I stepped inside, I saw so many pictures it is crazy. I start walking looking at each picture taking in each one observing them to the fullest.

"They look so really." I commit as I passed my fourth picture, they were big and framed with the most exquisite woodwork. I continue to walk around the room there are pictures everywhere on stands on the wall on tables, but it was like an art gallery. The lights from the windows made the creamy-white walls look like the sun is behind the picture, shining like they are gods. Adela is smiling as Alzir was standing by the door.

"These people are our family both past and present." She starts, "Every family member is up here from the first ever queen and king to the newest member born. We just need to add your newest picture." I turn to look at her confused.

"What do you mean newest picture?" I ask.

"Well the last picture we have of you is from the last time you were on Ivearona, but now that you are a new Fea we must have a new picture." I nod not really sure what she means. "This way." She ushers me to the back of the room a man was stand with a weird looking camera.

"Sit next to that window please." He asked pointing to a window with a view of the river and the sun on the opposite side giving a light glow. I nod and sit in the chair. He held the camera thing up and a click sound goes off indicating that the picture was taken. He nods at the picture than Adela. She walks over to look at the picture and smiles.

"Perfect, that'll be all." She then sends him off without letting me see. "Alright we should get you home before your brother throws a hissy fit." I smile at her joke as she laughs a little than escorts me to the door. I go to room that had my bag then we head to her office where the portal from this world is.

"Where have you guys been!?" Isaac shouted well sort of it was a hush shout since we were in the hallway of his "workplace" I look at Adela. She just smiles at him.

"We were busy oh and Alzir will be teaching her from now on."

"Wait what? I thought the whole point of her going over was so YOU can teach her." Adela started to walkway, so Isaac follows still trying to talk to her.

"He was better at it. Plus, I'll be teaching her about the succubus power, so I'll still be working with her." I was also following behind with Alzir next to me with a stone face.

"He really is." I intervene. Isaac looks back at me,

"I know he is but that's not the point." I smile and back out of their conversation.

"Did you also teach Isaac?" I ask Alzir he nods,

"A little bit yes but your father did most of the teaching." He says looking down at me.

"Alzir get a car ready please." Adela says over her shoulder, he does a slight bow and left.
