I had all but given up on the tunnels. Lily wasn’t there anymore. That I was sure of.
My body had decayed in a way that was restricting me from moving, and I broke through one of the exists, breathing hard, my body working hard to fix what I had broken in trying to find Lily.
It’s been hours.
It’s been too long.
I had to find her. I just had to.
Helpless, I looked up at the moon. It was shining down on me, the same way it did that fateful night we were cursed.
How many nights have I looked up at this same moon and mocked it?
How many nights have I laughed, taunted it, proud that the curse was required to put me down… and in the end it wasn’t even her.
I was so foolish and stupid.
The Moon Goddess who I disregarded and ridiculed had nothing to do with it.
