As Zade and I walked back to the Blood Hills Pack house with Alpha Lucas, I thought about everything that happened. I still could not get over the fact that my new Luna looked just like my old one. The only difference was the pack members here must love her because they wasted no time, defending her. No one would have done that for Luna Lacy unless they were ordered and had no other choice.
As we got to the pack house, Elder Micah met us outside. "So, you did decide to come back. I'm glad to see that. Maybe now we can all work together to make this all make sense for everyone involved. Then, if you still want to reject your mate and this pack, we will see what we can do to make your rejection work. But I have a feeling that may tie into this as well", Elder Micah explained. Alpha Lucas looked at the Elder and laughed. "You know Micah, this is the first time I have seen you in how long now?" "Way to long Lucas, way too long. But maybe with the new shift in the magical realm, we may be seeing more of each other", Elder Micah explained. I was curious about what he was talking about. "Elder Micah, may I ask you, what do you mean a shift in our magical realm". "Well, Jenna, our realm is based on our magic. It is what keeps our barriers up from the human world and also how we all may co exist. As you know, we are struggling to co-exists with other supernaturals. We have had years of wars with one another and our realm has been severely damaged . It was made in order for all of us to work and live together and to protect one another, not just our own kind. Our greatest predator other than humans is ourselves. This causes a shift in our joint magic. One species will control more than the others due to the lack of balance. Put it basically, we now have more of the magic realm because there are more of us than any other. Now do you see", he asked me. I nodded as we walked inside. It made sense I guess.
Everyone was sitting at a huge conference table. Nathan came running over to me asking me if I was OK and if we would be OK. "I am OK, and yes, we are OK too, I guess. See, I couldn't get rid of you when I tried, so I guess you are stuck with me" I said playfully. Chrissy and Beta Cameron smiled happily hearing this. I saw the Luna sitting towards the back. As hard as it was going to be, there was something I needed to do before I heard what Dr. Henry had to say, "Beta Cameron, Zade excuse me for a few, please", I said as I walked towards the back where the Luna sat. The Warriors readied themselves to shift, but I just shook my head at them. There would be no need for that. "Luna Penelope, may I have a moment please?" I asked as I walked over to her and I slightly bowed even though I didn't have to. "Yes of course you may", She answered, smiling. I didn't understand how she could smile at me and be so nice after I accused her of doing wrong. It wasn't right. "I would like to apologize for my actions earlier and my accusations. Will you please forgive me" I asked humbly. "Dear, have a seat please", She said, motioning for the chair next to her. "There is no need for you to apologize. Mistakes happen all the time. I am just sorry that I remind you of the person who hurt you. I don't ever want you to be afraid of me. I promise I will not ever hurt you or anyone else that was an innocent " she explained truthfully.
Alpha Lucas came walking over to where we were. I stood up, offering him back his chair. "No, you may sit there. Watch and see what I can do",, He said, smiling but still not looking at me. He made a motion with his hands, and before I could count to five, the entire seating at the table had changed. I was now on Luna Penelope's left. Then they went Nathan, Zade, Brian and Gus. On her left, of course, was the Alpha, Beta Cameron, Chrissy, Elder Micah and sitting in front of us all was the doctor. Dr. Henry cleared his throat to begin once again. "OK everyone, I would like to explain all of this now that we have all the parties here to hear what I have to say now" he began.
" I'm glad you returned Jenna, now if I may continue to explain what I found out." The room quieted as everyone turned their attention to the doctor. "You are a rare-gifted wolf. We all have witnessed at least a few of your powers. Your blood is that of a true original Royal. Yours is in fact as pure as the original. For that reason, it will be imperative for everyone here to keep that secret. No one else may find out, or you will become the most hunted supernatural there ever was." Hearing this scared me. I didn't want to be hunted and always worried about something or someone would capture me for my powers. I had heard stories about that. "Don't worry Jenna, you know we won't let anyone get you " Zade whispered to me, making me feel a little better, anyway.
"I'm glad to hear you say that, Zade, because the next bit of information involves the three of you" Dr. Henry spoke up as he looked at Zade, Brian and Gus. "Generally, when there is a powerful enough wolf, they are given three protectors to help keep them safe. The three protectors usually cannot face being separated from the one they are supposed to protect. They are the most loyal and most trusted by that person. Their bond is so tight and strong that generally it is even stronger than our mate bond. "
Everyone's eyes were now on me, Zade, Brian and Gus. Including my own mate, Nathan's. Beta Cameron spoke "Well, that explains Jenna's refusal to leave without them then." "Yes it does. It can literally kill them to be separated. The protectors will stop at absolutely nothing to find them, even if it costs them their life." Dr. Henry explained. The more I heard about this bond the more I disliked it. "What about mates, Dr. Henry" Alpha Lucas asked." Generally, they do not have mates. When they do, either their mate becomes a protector as well or the mate becomes so jealous and mad that they do something that will cost them their life by the hands of their mate" he answered. "Is there any way to break this bond," I asked immediately after hearing this. "NO!" ZADE, Brian and Gus shouted at once. "As you see Jenna that is impossible. Just the thought of that bond breaking to them scares them more than absolutely anything" Dr. Henry announced. "How does it affect the mate bond?" Nathan asked, as he looked confused by hearing all of this information. I wanted to know this too. "Well, from what I have read on the few known cases, the mated pair live their lives normally. The mate accepts the protectors as family and a part of themselves. We have to remember that the Moon Goddess paired each mate knowing their destiny. So Nathan, if you are asking about you and Jenna specifically, then I will tell you this, if you were chosen to be her mate, then the Moon Goddess knew that you could accept her three protectors as a part of her, in which I personally can see that you already have" The intensity of the room dropped upon hearing this. I know it eased my mind as Nathan squeezed my hand and smiled at me.
