It was late into the night when Mom and Dad finally got home, but we were all awake and waiting. Dad sat at the kitchen table with us as the warriors left the house.
“What are they going to do to her?” Kael asked.
“Nothing. Yet. They know it wasn’t your fault.” Dad said. “We convinced them you weren’t hiding anything.”
“And they believed you?” Soren asked.
“They did. But they’ll be keeping a close eye on you.” Mom added. “For now, everything’s settled.”
“Only the Alpha and Luna have settled. What about the rest of the pack?” I asked.
Mom and Dad exchanged a look that told me everything—the Alpha’s ruling hadn’t gone over well, and I’d be the one to pay for it.
