Chapter 15

Damien.

The party that was planned was still going. The food was cooked and eaten while people were coming and going. I met more of her family than who was in the pack at home. Music had started up and people were dancing while beers and shots were being handed out. Vanessa had gotten up a few times to dance with her family same with her mom. Even Marcus and Liam were pulled up by I guess cousins to dance with them. Vanessa came back over after being up dancing a few songs in a row and chugged some water. Her cousins came over to hand her a can of beer for the shot gun line. She stood there with them expertly took out her knife and popped a hole in the bottom. When everyone was ready they started, She won. Finished the beer first and crushed the can. I looked over at Liam my mouth wide. He shrugged. She only does it with the cousins, and wins every time.” She walked over to me and wrapped her arms around my waist. I wrapped mine around her shoulders and pulled her close. “Can I steal you away for awhile? I want to show you something.” She smiled at me. I nodded. I took a drink of my beer and Linked Liam saying we were going somewhere. She grabbed a couple of flashlights from the kitchen and led me through the jungle. We walked into some thick brush and we were both getting pummeled by plants. As it started to clear up a bit. I asked “You’re not bringing me out here to kill me? I mean that what happens in every horror movie.” “Yea they bring the Alpha to the jungle to murder them even though it means killing them as well since mates and all.” I could tell she rolled her eyes. I chuckled and grabbed her hand feeling the sparks on our skin. In front of us was a huge wall, she followed it up. The was a drop off and I grabbed her before she stepped more. “Watch it” I said holding her waist. “Damien let go I wasn’t going to walk off the edge, I knew it was there I just have to get close.” Un sure I let her go and she walked close to the edge and oved the vines from the wall. Showing off a huge cave mouth. “Is this the cave you told me about?” she smiled a nodded. “No one else has seen it.” We walked in me before her. I shined my flashlight on the walls seeing all the things she told me about. The story of her tribe and the Aztecs and the different gods. Even the moon goddess was there. She watched me as I looked around in awe and how beautiful everything looked and how it still looked like someone had just finished painting it. We walked all the way through to an opening that had more painting of wolves and statues. It was huge the ceiling was opening letting in the light of the full moon and the room was lit up. “Would like to meet your wolf?” I heard her ask me. “What?”

Vanessa

“Do you want to meet your wolf in person? I mean we only meet them in our heads or when we shift into them but never one on one. Do you want to?” I asked him. Nervously he nodded. “Stand on the symbol and don’t leave it.” On the floor there was a huge carving of a wolf and human. He stood there looking down. “Don’t worry you’ll get him back I promise and it wont hurt.” He just nodded. I turned to face and opening that pitch black, he faced it too. I closed my eyes and called our wolves to come out. Soon the sound of paws walking echoed through the room. I grabbed Damien’s hand to help calm his breathing. The sound got louder and louder. A tall silver wolf with silver eyes came out first and walked up to me. “Yaotl” I bowed my head and she placed her head to my forehead. “Yaotl?” “Her name, it mean soilder, warrior, fighter.” “She’s beautiful. May I?” He asked reaching forward she bowed her head for him to run her hands along her coat. Soon A even larger pitch black wolf with golden eyes stalked forward. He towered over both of us. “Kano” Damien said next to me. He bowed his head to press forehead to forehead. “Interesting” They both looked at me. “Normally Wolves wont do that. He must really respect you as Alpha.” He shook his head. “He is the alpha, I wouldnt be one without his soul.” Damien said. “Its good to meet you buddy.” He said scratching his head. Yaotl and I walked over to the altar and watched as they wrestled. It took them a few min to realize we have left the carving. “Oh yea we just have to stay in the room for them to stay in solid form, once we leave they join back in our bodies.” They continued to play while we watched and I scratched her head and neck.

         She walked over to them and Kano head pop up to look at her. Mates for sure. She walked around him slowly sizing him up. Kano looked nervous and stood still as she looked at him. She nudged his snout with hers and dipped under his chin rubbing him. He looked at us wide eyed and I laughed. “Why are you laughing?” Damien asked me. “Your big bad Alpha wolf is nervous around his mate.” He looked back at his wolf and shook his head. He walked over to him and started to give him a pep talk as Yaotl came and sat next to me. I patted her head and winked at her. She knew what she was doing. She looked up at the sky and whined. Kano did the same. “What whats wrong?” He asked looking worried. “Nothing wrong, its time for them to leave and come back to us. We cant be separate for long. This was just a gift to us from the wolf god to strength our bond with our wolves. We may not get this moment again so its time to say goodbye.” He hugged Kano as I hugged Yaotl. We touched foreheads and they walked down the black hallway together.

         We walked out of the cave together and into the jungle to head home. “I feel stronger, is that weird.” I shook my head. “The bond is stronger now, you are always one with your wolf but now its cemented. You both will be able to handle hard challenges better. You’ll be bigger and stronger, faster.” “What about you?” he turned around to look at me, putting his hands on my hips. “My wolf connections makes me more agile, faster, better fighter. The connection to my warrior as well is also stronger for all of us.” I said. He pulled me close and kissed me. With in second he had me lifted and my legs wrapped around his waist.  He pushed me against a tree, and I stiffened. He stopped and looked at wondering what. “Don’t panic but I need you to step back slowly.” I whispered to him. “What did I hurt you?” “Um no you just push me up against a snake. I can feel it trying to move under my back, so you have to step back away from it.” I said slowly. His eyes widened and he moved slowly backwards and away from the snake. He set me down and I shown a flashlight. Yup there were the scales and the snake as it slithered up into the tree. I breathed a sigh of relief. “s**t sorry babe.” He said. “Its ok, just did expect it.” We walked back to the house silently holding hands.

         When we got back people were still up drinking and partying. I stopped to talk to my mom and tia who were passing a bottle of tequila back and forth. Damien walked over to dad, Liam, and Megan. They badgering him about marking and mating me. I decided to escape my mom and Tia from pushing the bottle towards me, and save him as well. I walked up behind me and placed my hands on his chest I rubbed across them as I felt a low growl vibrate through his chest. He looked up at me with “help me” eyes . I smiled down at him. I leaned down and whispered in his ear. “I’ve come to save you from being badgered.” I softly nipped his ear and he stood abruptly. Making me take a step back. “Where are you guys going?” Megan said with a knowing smirk. “To make sure there’s no reason to badger him tomorrow morning.” I said as he snaked his arm around my waist pulling me towards him. Megan blushed, Liam frowned. Dad covered his ears and said “whoa whoa that’s still my little girl there.” I smiled and followed Damien to our room.
