Vanessa
We left the house and climbed into my truck and headed out. My truck would make it across the field no problem Liam’s car tried once and got stuck. Even with the football team trying to push it out…. Nope we had to literally tow it out. So ever since we take my truck. We pulled up and the fire was already blazing, music was blasting, drinks were being passed around. People were dancing, talking, or running to the woods for a hook up. Liam and I walked toward everyone when some stopped and looked at us and the whispers started. I felt my warrior shift and my wolf try to calm her. “Will you all shut up before she kicks all your asses and we all know she can, mind ya business.” Evan came pushing through people not carrying his sister trailing behind. She wanted her and Evan to be like me and Liam, siblings but also buddies. “Hi Liam…um hi Vanessa.” Megan said looking shy hiding behind her brother. “Megan please don’t be scared of me. I wont hurt anyone.” I said softly. “But you ability makes you more powerful than the alpha.” “yea but the only time I plan to use it is on rogues to get information, and don’t forget after graduation I go back to Mexico.” I stated. She smiled and relaxed alittle. She came and stood by me, she liked to cause the wolf elite picked on her. “ok lets play Damien is already by the table.” Evan said spinning and spilling half his beer. Megan locked arms with me and Liam placed his arm around my neck. We walked toward the table. Damien was sat in some lawn chairs we brought so we wouldn’t have to sit on the grass. Sometimes it was still wet and one year it ended early cause no one could sit and we all got tired. “Well its about time you showed up. Evan has been s**t talking and was about to get his ass kicked.” Damien said standing. He bro hugged Liam and looked down at me and opened his arms. I looked to my side and saw the wolf elite looking. I walked past him to Evan. Megan sat in a chair and grabbed a beer out of the cooler and started to hand us some. Liam winked a thank you and I think she actually died for a moment.
We started playing and sinking shot for shot. We had cleared all but 2 cups and the boys still had all theirs. “Aw looks like the big bad wolfs cant huff and puff and blow a win.” I said high fiving Evan. “Don’t forget little red riding warrior, The big bad wolf always wins.” Damien growled at me. I placed my hands on the table and leaned over. Forgetting I was wearing a low cut tank top with red flannel over it giving him a clear shot of my cleavage, which of course he stared. “You forget, wolf, they always die.” I gave him a wink, Evan and I shot and sunk the balls in the cup. “And that my friend is called a win.” I said as Evan ran around behind me screaming and whooping. My brother groaned and sat in the chair next to Megan. While Damien just smirked at me and I smiled at him. Till Evan ran up no shirt and picked up carrying me off. He was still screaming, I was laughing ready for him to drop me or trip. Which he ended up tripping, I rolled backward landing up on my feet gracefully. Evan just landed on his face. Megan came running over while I laughed. Damien jogged over grabbing my shoulders looking me up and down. “Are you ok?” I nodded walking away helping Megan carry a drunk Evan to the chairs. I sat next to Liam who wasn’t the least bit concerned about us, he knew we were fine. We all sat there for a time, drinking, talking, laughing at Evan who promised he wasn’t going to need to be babysat. “So you wanna have that talk now?” Damien said snapping me out of my thoughts.
Damien
“Oh look the no good half breed. Why are you even here? The pack will turn on you. You think you have an ability to control us wolves. You are just a no good low half wolf.” Ashley the leader of the wolf elites said. I looked at Vanessa who rolled her eyes, leaned forward placing her elbows on he knees and started straight at her. I saw a flash in her eyes. “You know little she wolf, as I come from the gods I can see your whole family line. And its sad to say the reason your so weak is because you came from omegas. Recent wolfs disgraced the moon goddess, my child, by not being with their intended mates. Careful or you’ll end up matless and pupless.” She said. It wasn’t her, that voice wasn’t her. It was her warrior. Ashley shook with fear turned and walked back to the bonfire her minions close at her heels. I laughed. “Ok warrior can I have vanessa back so we can have our talk.” She nodded and her brown eyes swirled back.
We stood and strolled the open field. “So explain the whole thing to me.” I said stealing a glance at her. “When I became of age to receive my warrior, we traveled deep into the Mexican jungle to the ancient cities. To the heart of the Aztec people. While camped out there I wondered off one night. The jungle is a dangerous place and I had no training, no warrior or wolf to protect me. I was pulled to a hidden cave. I walked inside and with my flashlight looked around. Murals of ancient people on the walls, telling the story of our lives. The gods, the battles, everything. I was pulled by a voice to the back of the cave. There was a room filled with wolf murals and statues. An alter. I walked to the alter and sat on it looked around, when I heard the voice again, just louder. It spoke in the Aztec language but I knew what it said. It called me daughter, protector of wolves. The wolf spirit the belongs to me will be my guide to the right decisions, and the warrior will make sure im strong enough to carry out what needs to be done. I saw both spirits that day, my warrior and my wolf. The appeared and promised to be close and protect me. Then they entered my body. Next thing I remember waking up in the tent with my tios and my mom around me. I told them and the tribe elder what happened. They thought maybe it was my imagination, but would prepare me for the wolf warrior to be safe. The wolf warrior hasn’t been here since the time the Spaniards came in search of gold and start slaughtering my people. Every summer when I go back to Mexico with mom, I’m reminded of my great destiny. The warrior doesn’t just choose random people to help lead. The warrior must remain with the tribe as it always has. I always go back to that cave to seek guidance, to ask why me, what should I be doing. Am I really the wolf warrior. What happened at training sealed my fate. So the tribe will expect me to go back and be with a strong warrior in hopes to keep it going.” We stopped and she looked at me. “What if the moon goddess has you mated to a wolf?” “The moon goddess is the daughter of the wolf god, she is the first wolf protector. If the gods see it best fit to be mated to a wolf, so be it. but until then, I’m fated to the tribe.” She looked sad. “I believe you are fated to me, not to them that’s why I feel the pull. I don’t know why you don’t but I think you will. It may be harder since you are a hybrid.” I grabbed her hands in mine and held them to my chest. “I know you feel something when we are close.” I slipped my hand around her waist and pulled her closer he breathing hitched and he heart rate picked up. “don’t you feel it? the sparks? The pull?” She gulped and nodded. Her eyes were down at our hands the whole time. I lifted my hand and used a finger the bring her gaze and face up to me. “If I kiss you again will you run away?” She smiled and shook her head. I leaned in and kissed her slowly. She placed both her hands on my chest as mine went to her waist and pulled her close. She deepened the kiss, stood on her tippy toes and wrapped her arms around my neck. My wolf was howling with delight and screaming at me to mark her. I know I couldn’t not yet.
