Chapter4

Wystan is furious about Shemar throwing him out of his house. He’s looking at two men standing in front of the gate blocking him from reentering. Wystan can’t believe his son would rather be a rogue than an Alpha that he was born to be. But he’s angrier that Shemar chose to use his mother’s surname. That is the one thing he hasn’t been able to accept and refuses to refer to him by it. He thought once he took control of Bronte’s territory that he and Shemar would bury the hatchet and join forces. It irritates him that Shemar wants to be known as a rogue. “I’m not going any damn where.” He mumbles while walking toward the two guards. Both men give him a stern stare. Mana steps in front of the other guard. “Sir, I hate to have to kill you. But I will if it comes to it. We’ve been ordered to do so if you don’t leave.” “One of these damn days.” Wystan clenched his fist, looking toward the house. He sees Shemar in a window on the second floor, looking at him. He’s cussing as he shifts into Frost, his wolf wondering who the woman is that his son has fallen in love with. Shemar watches Frost until he’s out of sight. “I’m sure you’re up to something. If you weren’t my father, I would cut all ties with you.” His mind goes to Kaimana. “My beautiful Kaimana. I have to make a good impression. Ah, I know the perfect place. I'm sure you’ll love it. ***** On the way to the dining room, Alika, Moon, and Alessio are laughing at the triplets because they still believe Kaimana is human. "So, old friend, you said you had some rogue problems," Bronte rolled his eyes at his sons. He’s processing that they rejected Kaimana and threw away the strongest pack in Hawaii. "My daughter, son, Alessio, and Moon took care of that. Those damn rogues didn't stand a chance when they went up against these four. I turned the pack over to my daughter years ago. Yep, now she’s the Alpha." Namakaeha pats his daughter’s hand. “I'm glad those jerks rejected you,” he tells her through their link. She chuckles, "So am I. I couldn’t take interacting with them for eternity.” Kaimana frowns. “Just thinking about it makes my skin crawl. Nope. Jerks.” "She's as human as her mother was. How can she fight in a battle against shifters?" Bronte mind-links his mate, questioning her about Shiloh. "Yes, I know. Something isn’t measuring up. Alika should be the Alpha since he has a wolf. What was your friend thinking?" Ginerra mind-links him back. “Maybe because she’s the oldest. Yes, that must be it. It's not because she can protect his pack.” Bronte cut his eyes at Namakaeha. Apollo glances at his two brothers and shakes his head in disbelief. "Let me get this straight. You're the Alpha of this pack?" Kaimana sits down at the head of the table. "Yes, and I'm 5'7", I'm not short, and I can fight. Thank you for the compliment about my ass. But stop looking at it. So now you three can sleep with all the she-wolves you want. Because after all, as Atlas mentioned, you three are too young to settle down.” She looks between the triplets. “s**t,” the triplets mumble, looking at each other. Ares looks at his mother, then back at Kaimana. “Oh, so you heard us?” "Yes, I heard every word that you three said loud and clear. Now let’s enjoy our meals." Kaimana smirks and thinks, "Yep, arrogant assholes." Ginerra shook her head, thinking, “This isn't good.” Kaimana cut her eyes at her, grinned, and thought. “What’s not good about it?” Moon decided to change the subject by asking Kaimana what her plan was for tonight. Kaimana tells her she’s going out to meet a special friend. If things go the way she plans, she might not be home until tomorrow morning before training starts. Three loud growls came from the other end of the table. "Stop that growling. I mean it, now stop it right now." Kaimana looks and points her fork at the triplets. “My word, growling at the table during dinner. What is wrong with you three? I swear, where are your manners?" Her father, brother, Moon, and Alessio laugh. Bronte and Ginerra don’t seem to think it’s funny and continue eating. "Explain to us how you're the Alpha of this pack," Atlas points at her. "You're human. There is no way you can protect a pack." “Well, I haven’t had any complaints. Ilio Hihiu is still the largest and the most fearful pack.” She raises her glass. “I must be doing something right.” "They rejected you because they thought you were human?" Alika laughs, looking at the triplets. "Yes," She nodded and laughed as she and Alessio stood up to go check the borders. Kaimana looks at her watch, “I should be getting a call any minute now.” Namakaeha tried to hold his daughter in, but he couldn’t. Ginerra looks at her mate more confused than ever. Bronte scratches his head, "Namakaeha, have we missed something?" He’s still laughing and nods, "Yes, a lot. Big time." Ares, Atlas, and Apollo stare at Kaimana and Alessio walking out of the dining room. "Just where do you two think you're going with him?" Apollo points at Alessio and her. Alessio looks at him, "I don't answer to you." "Neither do I." She didn't bother to look at him as she and Alessio kept walking. The triplets are looking at them as they walk down the hall. Bronte’s still looking at Namakaeha. "Are you going to tell us what we missed?" “Nope,” Namakaeha repeatedly shakes his head, “if my daughter wanted you all to know, she would have told you. All I’ll say is watch out.” The triplets and their parents stare at Namakaeha. Alika and Moon excuse themselves. They wanted to get as far away from the triplets as possible. Bronte motions for his sons to follow him outside. When they reach the porch, he slaps each one on the head, “What the hell were you thinking? What the hell is wrong with your three knuckleheads? Damn it, all three of you were mated to the Alpha of the strongest damn pack in this whole state. Not to mention money. I don't care if she's human or anything else. All of this could have been yours.” Apollo looks at their father. "She smells like a human. How were we to know that she wasn't?" “We didn’t know who she was.” Atlas mumbles and lowers his head. Ares lowers his head, not saying anything. He knew anything he said was wrong in their father’s eyes. “Didn’t I say I don’t give a f**k if she’s human?” Bronte rubs his blonde hair back roughly. "Who did I say we were coming here to see?" "Alpha Namakaeha." Ares mumbles with his head still down. “Momoa.” Atlas hasn't said anything, he's in deep thought. Area and Apollo slightly nod. "Right, Momoa. I am sure Kaimana said her last f*****g name when she was accepting the rejections. Did she say it?" He looks at his three sons, waiting for an answer. Apollo looked back at the house. "We’ve changed our minds about rejecting her," he said, looking at his father. Bronte pats Apollo on the back. "It doesn't work like that. Nor is it that easy. Once a person is rejected, their bonds are broken. But I'll think of something." They walk back into the dining room where Namakaeha and Ginerra are waiting for them. Atlas glances at Kaimana’s wine glass. His mother is saying something to him and his brothers, but he hasn’t heard a word she said. He walks over to the glass and drinks out of it. He frowns and spits it out. “ I thought this was wine.”
