AVA When I finally came down the stairs, the house was already coming to life. Everyone was just about settling into the dining room. I could hear Lilith's voice chiming up about something before she dissolved into a laugh, and Christian saying something about "at least let me have coffee before the madness starts." Sawyer was standing close to Mum, saying something I couldn't hear, and Mum was listening intently. I stood at the edge for a moment, watching Mum. Last night, she came to my room.
