William's Life Is Turned Upside Down

864 Words
Jasper and Arden had ten seconds flat to pull a story out of their ass. They kept the truth or as much of it as they could relevant. Telling the cops who came that Mrs. Shamus had came and held a gun to Jasper’s head, assaulted him, accused him of having something to do with her son’s overdose and then shot off two rounds to scare him. They had cleaned up the blood and any evidence that Arden had been shot. And after explaining his dad had fainted and he’d be fine, they hurriedly shooed the police out and then went back to William. Jasper of course wasn’t surprised to find his dad pacing and looking a little uncomfortable.  “Dad.” Rushing to him, William hugged his son and then looked up at Arden awkwardly hanging by the door. “I should go.” She whispered and started to grab her stuff. William scoffed in disbelief as he waved his hands, “I watched you bite a woman I went to high school with and heal yourself like you’re freaking wolverine. You don’t think you owe me anything?” Arden nervously held her jacket in shaking hands, “I was going to tell you William. Not like that, but I was going to tell you.” Biting her bottom lip, Arden admitted, “But with that kind of injury the need to feed comes on strong. And I couldn’t hurt you or Jackson, but I never wanted to just throw that on you.” William slowly nodded as he whispered in disbelief, “Gotcha, so you’re a vampire?” Arden’s face showed the truth as William looked her over, “And you just live in a small ass town? In a fallen Antebellum house? God, I’ve been dating a vampire.” William mumbled processing this, but then he glanced at Jasper who was just casually cleaning up his head wound. “You don’t seem at all shocked about this.” Jasper was guilty as he admitted, “Yeah sorry pops, I knew already.” William threw his head back, “Of course you did. So, you going to tell me Alaia’s a witch and her daddy’s a werewolf.” Jasper laughed lightly, “Nope, they’re both vampires too. The whole family is actually.” William’s eyes widened as Jasper finished his bandage over his right eye, “But you should know mom is a werewolf now.” Jaw dropping, William was now stunned as Arden looked up at the new information. Shooting Jasper, a look quickly in surprise, she asked, “Seriously?” Jasper nodded, “Yeah apparently werewolves live on Battle Creek Reservation.” Watching William close and open his mouth with questions he couldn’t get out, Jasper gave them a rehash, “She’s Davon’s mate and when they met it was this whole connection and blah, blah, blah. You know you had to be there to get the whole situation. Short story is, supernatural’s are real, and we’ve unknowingly danced into it.” Arden froze and then slowly looked at William who looked ready to blow. “And no one thought to drop any of this any text?” He exaggerated looking between them. Jasper shrugged a shoulder casually, “I was taking it day by day and thought eventually you’d find out. Just didn’t know when or how, or if I’d have to tell you.” William pointed at his son, “Would have liked the you telling me option better. Either one of you!” Jasper agreed but then looked at his dad seriously, “Yeah but would you have honestly believed me? Me coming home saying we were dating vampires wouldn’t have freaked you out?” William wasn’t sure, but he knew he didn’t like to be lied to. Not by his son, and not by his woman.  Arden winced as if sensing his thoughts and then looked down guilty, “I can go if you want.”  He didn’t want her to. Mostly out of fear that if she left, she wouldn’t come back. But parts of him wanted her gone, ugly scared parts of him he couldn’t control. But then Jasper walked to Arden and whispered something in her ear. Arden nodded and then looked at William one last time before leaving. William wanted to tell her to stay, but another part of him was happy when the door closed behind her. Breathing out ragged as he fell against his son, Jasper sat his dad down and made him some tea. As he poured his dad a cup, he shot his girlfriend a text, because while today was his birthday and while he was supposed to be spending it with her. Alone. They instead spent it with his father giving him a crash course on the supernatural.
