I stopped talking and lowered my head to drink the moonlight herb congee in my bowl. The warm, healing liquid soothed my throat.
Kaelan suddenly said, "Your mother called you last night."
Hearing this unexpectedly, I nearly choked and started coughing violently. The congee went down the wrong way, making my eyes water.
